While Ruger uses a Novak dovetail for their sights, they didn't use a standard Novak front sight, they used a 1/2 Novak sight, with the front sight blade being flush with the dovetail cut, thus avoiding having to mill the flat on top of the slide that is back from the dovetail towards the rear...

Early Bearcats did NOT have the transfer bar. These became available and standard when the Bearcat was re-introduced (90s?). Older guns can be sent in for the transfer conversion, so you can find them in the used marketplace with the conversion. This one still has the original lockwork...
