    Reloading question

My Father started reloading ~1965 with Lyman "C" press. We darn near wore it out. I got a used Rock Chucker in 1980. Used but you couldn't tell. I would get another Rock Chucker. You won't ever wear it out and from there you have few limitations. In my opinion spending money to fulfill...

    Ruger #1

"That said, I have too darned many..." Maybe the Classifieds section can help you with that problem.

A No. 1 .44 Mag load for deer.

Yeah, I figure the primer is going to be the weak link, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND loads over published maximums. I think I'd rather have the velocity over the weight. I'm looking at the 2010 manual. I check later sources. Thanks

A No. 1 .44 Mag load for deer.

That is pretty zippy for 225 grains. I picked up a box the other day and we'll see.

A No. 1 .44 Mag load for deer.

I'm not digitally adept. I have learned that, with my rifle, it seems the 225 FTX can be seated to the cannelure and the round chambers without the need to case trim.

Thanks for the input on crimping. And I have a partial "can" of Lil Gun. It's actually a plastic bottle, but I'm slow to accept change. Y'all have a good one.

A No. 1 .44 Mag load for deer.

A Buddy of mine was touring the Coors brewery years ago and noted Coors Light and Keystone Light were being filled from the same vat. When he asked the tour guide it was ~ 'Well, most folks don't notice that...' I guess the same can apply to propellents. Elmer Keith figured out years ago if...

A No. 1 .44 Mag load for deer.

I was curious about the powder, I can't see an appreciable difference between H110 and Win 296 so I don't plan to add a powder to my inventory. 17.8 gr. is the maximum in my Hornady 8th (2010?) edition. I figure the case/primer will be the weak link but I'm going to go for accuracy over...

A No. 1 .44 Mag load for deer.

One of the great things about reloading for a No, 1 is you don't have to fit your round into a magazine or worry about crimping. At ~$50/100 for bullets (local Bass Pro) I don't want to buy a box just for fun. Trimming isn't out of the question and considering my application I'm leaning toward...

A No. 1 .44 Mag load for deer.

I have limited experience hunting deer and want to work up a load for my No. 1. Hornady is the most common brand around here. I had a nice load with the 265 gr. SP, but they've been discontinued. I'm considering the 225 gr. FTX, the 240 gr. HP-XTP, and the 300 gr. HP-XTP. This load would be...

My new Marlin/Ruger Classic .44 Mag

Here in central Texas I don't see many No. 1's. When Ruger/Lipsey's came out with a batch of No. 1's in .44 mag several years ago I figured if I wanted one I'd just have to pony up. It wasn't painless but looking back I'm glad I did.

Considering a Peep Site for my Marlin 336

If you can find a Merit Adjustable Peep Sight that should help you a lot on the back end. Setting a rifle up for your shooting conditions should be kept in mind. Jack O'Conner was shooting mountain goat at 200 yards with "iron" sights well before he went to a "telescopic" sight. I remember...

sp101 2013 22lr heavy hammer spring replacement question

I've tried the Woolf kit and it didn't work too well for me. I think I've switched back to the factory spring but I'm still getting 3-5 misfires/cylinder. I'm going to have to take all my springs to the range and spend the day confirming that. I would also note that when I got this pistol new...
