Lots of defects on my new Ruger 10/22 TD

I am sorry that for the $$ you paid, the QC should have been better. This leads to my next question, did you inspect the rifle before you took delivery? A couple of the things you mentioned should been noticable prior to laying down your hard earned cash.

    Non Ruger AR question

The original M-16 (AR) had no 'Forward' assist or shell casing deflector, but did have a dust cover. The FA and deflector were added later. I am like most others, I have never used my FA, but I feel the dust cover is a worth while addition. The deflector is one of the most important additons...

You guys told me not to worry. Ruger says worry a little.

I do not mean to imply the members here are less than knowledgeable, but the kind of question he originally asked was one that Ruger or a gunsmith should answer. These kinds of questions are best addressed to the Manufacturer, in this case Ruger. I did not mean to step on anybodies toes.

    Need advice: Ruger vs S&W

I have both and IMHO, as much as like Rugers, I will still take my 629 (.44M) Mountain Gun as my primary 'woods' gun. The new Ruger DA's have much better triggers than ones of just a few years ago so the trigger is pretty even on the new ones. The reason I will take my MG over my .44M Alaskan is...

That is why you don't ask these kind of questions on the I-net.

    New Red dot

Let us know how the SightMark workd out. I had one on my AR and the dot would shift imact point and on occasion go out for a second or two when I fired a round.

Surprised my wife with an SR22

Glad you/her likes the SR22. The ones I have seen are pretty neat. As a carry for your wife, I might suggest a M&P 9MM Shield. I looked at both at the NRA Convention and was impressed with both.

SR9, SR40 vs Glock, M&P, XD, Taurus, other?

I have shot almost all of the above in the full size versions and (no shout downs) I still keep coming back to my Glock 22. The 92FS fits well, but is to bulky. The M$P just didn't reasonate and I don't know why. The Ruger fit my hand well, but I just didn't like the chamber loaded indicator on...

Ruger Alaskan in 44 Magnum Range Report

Your results mirror mine except I seldom shoot 180 gr.

Ive got the hankering for a .44 spl. Which one?

I have both a blued and a SS with 4 5/8" BBl in .44 SPL and I am hard put to pick my favorite. I also have the 50th .44M 6 1/2" BBl and it may well be my favorite of the three. If you get the .44 SPL, you will not be sorry, that are fine shooting handguns.

    Ruger Alaskan...which model?

IMHO----The .44M version is the most practical. Has enough 'power' to handle about anything, but doesn't have the recoil of the .454C. Rounds are cheaper and can be found about anywhere and things like speed loaders are also out there. I have many hundreds of rounds through mine and is still a...

Red Label is NOT in 2012 catalog

As much as I would love to see Ruger in the pump shootgun market, I would have a hard time giving up my 'percived' high level Browning BPS for anything else. Now, if they would make a reliable semi-auto at a reasonable price, I would be first in line for one, especially in camo for Goose and Duck.

    Ruger Mini Thirty Tactical?

I too am in the market for a Mini-30 and the only negative I have heard is it will not reliabily shoot the cheap Russian ammo because of the hard primmers. Since this is the most common and about the cheapest, is there a kit or mod one can do to the Mini 30 to help?

    GP 100 Ammo sanity check

Another source for less expensive ammo is Georgia Arms.

    Another Alaskan

IMHO, that is a very good price. I have one that I bought right after they came out and I really like it.
