    RAPC

My tastes run to Ruger revolvers. I have 2 NMBHs an LCR and a 3" LCRX. But lately I have been thnking about a semi and have considered the following as possible choices: Wlther CCP M2 Beretta PX4 Beretta APX Centurion RAPC I am wondering how the RAPC would stack up against the ones I have...

    lcr 38+p

I put the grips from the LCRX 3" bbl model on my LCR 38+P and it made the gun more pleasant to shoot because my hand fit the grip better. It is not more difficult to conceal with the larger grips than with the originals. I've owned mine for 2.5 years or so and am now just getting to the point...

Universal and Titegroup for .44 spcl, .38+P, and .357 mag

Thank you Rclark and Jimbo357mag, I appreciate the replies. I have Blue Dot and for my magnum loads. I was looking for faster burning powder replacement for the Bullseye and Red Dot I have nearly used up, hence the Titegroup, as well as a medium range powder (Universal) which I understand gives...

LCR .38 Special +P Smithing Questions

woodsy, I had not thought about that. I will have to try to swab that area out. My concern is that when I screw that piece in, it never "tightens." I don't think it is grabbing anything. BTW, I received the part from Ruger on Saturday (the 19th). It was not the crane release "button retaining...

Universal and Titegroup for .44 spcl, .38+P, and .357 mag

I would appreciate hearing thoughts from folks about what has worked for them with the powders in the calibers listed in the header. The .38+P loads would be shot in my 38+P LCR under 140, 148, 155 grain DEWCs and a 158 grain RNFP. The Hogdon site does list loads for these bullet weights, but...

LCR .38 Special +P Smithing Questions

rob-c, I think I will give that a go. I just ordered an XS big dot sight for the LCR. I'll try the Loctite when I swap out the sights. I'm hoping that the new sight will be an improvement over the standard one. Old eyes and all of that.

LCR .38 Special +P Smithing Questions

NikA, Thank you for the response. I contacted Ruger about the release pivot screw. Ruger is mailing a replacement. If that does not work, then the gun will have to be returned for a fix at the factory.

LCR .38 Special +P Smithing Questions

Greetings, I need a bit of help with 2 minor problems I am having with my LCR. First, the very small screw that runs up into the cylinder release button keeps backing out after I fire the gun. I've put blue Loctite on it and screwed it back in, but this does not seem to help at all. Luckily...

Loading the .44 Spl Flattop to it's full potential

I have 2lbs of Blue Dot powder and have been wondering what to do with it. I'd be interested in hearing about your BD loads. I have an RCBS 250K and Saeco 246 gr RNFP that I load in my 44, generally over 5 grains of Bullseye. Can you share your Blue Dot load?

    LCR, which to purchase?

I agree with s4s4u. I have an LCR 38+P. It is very snappy with +P ammo. I have found, however, that the more I practice with it, the less the recoil bothers me. I'm also starting to like the gun much more, whereas initially I wondered what kind of beast I had purchased.

Lee Crimp die and brass shavings

Cheesewhiz, I am using a Lee FCD. I just loaded fifty rounds and discovered that I am not belling enough. Some of my bullets are being shaved by the brass, so under expanding is not the issue. A second thing that I found helpful while cruising the net on this subject is the suggestion that the...

Lee Crimp die and brass shavings

Thanks for the replies. I cleaned out the dies and will see how that works. I am not so sure that it is an excessive belling issue. I bell the case mouth only enough to fit about the first 1/16th of the bullet base into the case. I've read elsewhere that might not be enough, so it looks as if I...

Lee Crimp die and brass shavings

Someone tell me what I am doing wrong. I have a Lee carbide die set for 38/357. When I crimp my bullets, a thin ring/half ring of brass is shaved off of the top of the case. This occurs in both 38s and .357s and I cannot figure out why. It happens on heavy, medium and light crimps. -- Barkis
