Redhawk Jam - any ideas of the cause...?

......what's the saying about countin' chickens afore they hatch....??? I bought the brass tubing today, excited to make the repair more permanent, and so today I'm fiddlin with the Redhawk, and try to slow the trigger's return so as to make the 'jam' happen (which I could NOT do...

Redhawk Jam - any ideas of the cause...?

Well, I fixed it, sort of. I figured I'd post an update in case anyone else could learn from my experience. I received some good advice in this post from a guy named Ioweganon the RugerNET Forum: http://rugerforum.net/ruger-double-action/268898-redhawk-jam-any-suggestions.html#post3183818...

Redhawk Jam - any ideas of the cause...?

Thanks for all the replies. I took it apart, polished off a couple burrs, lubed it, and reassembled it, and it works MUCH better. I can still MAKE the jam happen intentionally, but it won't just happen from a lazy return. I plan to fire 500 rounds or so through it, assess the 'jam' again...

Redhawk Jam - any ideas of the cause...?

Thanks for the replies. In the case of this particular revolver, sometimes the trigger actually needs to be PUSHED forward to make the last 'click' happen for reset. So I think that there is likely a burr or some other impediment keeping it from going fully forward. I will investigate this...

Redhawk Jam - any ideas of the cause...?

My 45 Colt/ACP Redhawk will occasionally refuse to allow a full trigger-pull, without letting the trigger go fully forward, and trying again. I sent the new, barely-fired, gun back to Ruger last year due to this, and they thought it might be that the trigger group wasn't seating fully in the...

    Ruger M92?

Same here...! The 96 action might not handle the .357 Max or .454 Casull, unless major changes were made. The Winchester 92 action is definitely not strong enough to handle the .454 Casull unless modified quite a bit (like Rossi did), and the .357 Max adds the challenge of greater length to...

    77-357 Rotary Magazine problem

I wish they'd make them in .45 Colt. Maybe .480 Ruger, too... For that matter, make the 96 levergun in those chamberings...

Catastrophic failure Ruger GP-100 and S&B ammunition. He

I agree. NOR is it the 'first reported incident' involving a Ruger. They are STRONG guns, but it isn't impossible that a 'lemon' got out of the factory.

    FINEST 9mm HANDGUN EVER MADE.....?

The Taurus PT-92 is the 'best' - very reliable, open-slide design, but unlike the Beretta, it has a 'normal' thumb-down-to-fire 1911-style safety. The Ruger SR9-c is pretty nice, though...

    Thoughts on ammo

Paco Kelly's "Acu'rzr'" cut my groups in half with the Single Six, and enables "bulk" .22 LR to perform more like "premium" in the 96/22 and 10/22's. http://leverguns.com/store/acurzr.html

    Ruger 22 Hornet - I like it!

I'd heard that Ruger .22 Hornets were not any good (but that was usually from people who shot .223's most of the time anyway), but Ruger is giving away a free Carhart Jacket* if you buy a bolt gun before December 31st this year, and I have sold and traded enough stuff I didn't need to get...

pics of my 'new to me' Ruger 77/44

I have received my (recent manufacture) 77/44 SS since my last post, and I did have to modify the NECG sight (I didn't want a higher front sight). I used a dremel to cut 1/8" off the bottom of the sliding plate which holds the aperture. Then I drilled the elevation adjustment screw countersink...
