Am I dumb for buying a new GP100 online without handling it first?

I buy stuff online all the time; mostly drums, cymbals and various music stuff. About 80% of the time, what I buy meets or exceeds my expectations. 20% of the time, I'm disappointed. Given this "rate of return", I'm still far better off that walking into a "brick and mortar" store or a "mom...

    P89 turned up

Congratulations on your purchase. Enjoy. I have a blued P89. It's my "car gun". It's not a terribly expensive gun so don't worry too much about it.

I only shoot things that need shooting. Everything else gets a pass. When in doubt, I don't shoot.

Best deer season in over a decade!

I got my first deer ever on 27 December. I'm hooked! A venison steak is currently marinating in the fridge.

Do you routinely carry more than one gun?

I keep a Ruger P89 (large frame 9mm pistol) in my car door compartment. It never leaves the car. A Ruger LCRX (38 caliber snub nose revolver) is what I carry on my person. At the height of the rioting, I was working in a bad area. I kept a 12 gauge pump in the trunk. Not anymore.

Which gun would you use for deer?

Finding anything in stock is tough these days. I'm not liking communism. :( Given Michigan's hunting laws, I think a muzzle loader is the best choice. A muzzle loader will open up two more weeks of deer season and I can use it during firearms season, almost tripling the effective range over...

Which gun would you use for deer?

The Garands require a softer firing 30.06 cartridge. Using a modern 30.06 will, damage it. I'm sure somebody makes a soft point round that will work in a Garand. I just haven't found it yet. Ammo is in such short supply right now. I've pretty much given up with fancy ammo options.

I'm thinking about getting an in line muzzle loader for deer hunting. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

    coyote trapping

Thanks for the "heads up". There's still no coyote problem here in Northwest Michigan. Never caught one on a trail camera. Never seen one. Rarely hear them. Until they become a problem, I plan to just let them be.

    coyote trapping

I hear coyotes at night every once in a while, but never see them. They are not a nuisance around here, so I would not shoot them if presented the opportunity.

Which gun would you use for deer?

My brother and I grilled a couple of the venison steaks yesterday. To me, it tasted just like beef, just a tad leaner and tougher, but still delicious. No gamey taste at all. I'm a believer! Already planning next season's hunt. I'm considering a muzzle loader. I know NOTHING about them...

Copper bullets better for deer Hunting?

I know next to nothing about copper bullets. That said, if it's an idea blessed or mandated by the State of California, I'll stick with lead.

Would you consider carrying in a "murse"?

Advantages: 1. Secure and plenty of room 2. Comfortable and practical way to carry Disadvantages: 1. You may appear "fashion challenged" 2. Slow draw Bottom line: Go ahead. Try it. See how it works. Yeah... Your buddies are gonna give you a hard time but you can harass them about other things.

Which gun would you use for deer?

Agreed. Taking a large animal like a deer immediately makes you responsible for ensuring it does not go to waste. As I said before, my greatest fear is that I would only wound the deer. Instead; it went down almost immediately. I got it to the butcher clean and still warm. I'm already...
