Changes to SP 101 hammer. Anybody know why?

While I am not a fan of MIM parts, deac45 is correct. The potential advantage is a lighter hammer meaning faster lock time.

    .44 mag ammo for Whitetail

Out of a carbine I think I would opt for the soft points over the hollow point. My experience with 240gr XTPs at pistol velocities (~1250 fps) is they expand fully on impact. I would be a little concerned about the bullet coming apart at carbine velocities. Not that it wouldn't likely be fatal...

Do old model .44's usually shoot high?

I am fairly certain that there were several years where older BH's and SBHs had a shorter front sight blade. From what I recall this was based on the prevalent load for 44s being something like 160gr at the time. My 1967 3 screw SBH shoots high with 240gr loads and way high with 300s.

Red dot on Ruger Blackhawk .45

I was going to recommend the Weigand Combat mounts. They make a no drill mount that replaces the rear sight and has a clamp for the barrel and ERH, however it says they will not work with a .45 cal or 30 carbine blackhawk. Weaver and B-Square used to offer a no-drill scope mount for the...

Red dot on Ruger Blackhawk .45

I have an Ultradot match dot on my SBH Bisley Hunter. Been there for 10+ years, has seen countless thousands of full power 44 mag loads and has been 100% rock solid. Never shifted zero and plenty good for 100yard work if I do my part. I also have a Deltapoint on a 44mag Redhawk that has done...

Question: Super Redhawk, Red Dot fit?

Ultradot lists the battery life between 20 and 4000 hours. I would assume that at full brightness you get 20, and at minimum you get 4000. Typically I run my dots closer to 50% brightness during the peak of the day and lower levels as light fades. With a set of fresh batteries at the start of...

Does someone make a better cleaner rear sight for Blackhawks

LPA makes a rear sight that will fit a Blackhawk. It is the same sight as the Ruger double actions use. https://fusionfirearms.com/ruger-gp100-revolver-adjustable-target-sight

What is it that you want to have done? Hamilton Bowen Jack Huntington Andy Horvath Mark Hartshorne Any of these guys can do pretty much anything that can be done to a revolver.

    Ghost sight front sight...

Have you tried one of the micro red dot sights like the Trijicon RMR or Leupold DeltaPoint pro? They are so light there is virtually no difference in the weight or feel of the gun.

    3 screw shooting high

I have a 1967 3 screw SBH that has the same issue. Short front sight. Have thought about possibly using something like JB Weld to build up the front a bit then file to match the current profile. The other option involves having a smith mill out the existing sight blade and making the base into...

Super Blackhawk Hunter w/ a reflex sight

I Evoloution Gun Works makes a mount that replaces the rear sight. Not quite as low profile as the Raptor mount but a whole lot lower than a section of rail + rail adapter + MRDS. https://www.egwguns.com/viper-venom-ruger-revolver-sight-mount-fits-burris-fastfire-and-docter Also Burris makes...

    180gr 357

I am pretty sure that loadswap is gone. I heard that Beartooth either sold the business or sold the website and the company that purchased it did not want to continue loadswap.

    subsonic ammo isn't

Also bullets that are moving just subsonic may have areas around the bullet where the air is still supersonic and will still generate a shockwave. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPwdlEgLn5Q Jump to 5:00 for the subsonic info.

    Redhawk 357 cylinders

I believe that is a no-go based on the frame not being long enough.
