    Precision And Base Pins

I think the cylinder was bored separately to ensure throat consistency. Previous owner did that. I like test procedure one bore at a time.

    Precision And Base Pins

Group size consistently large. Flyers. Three different shooters. Cylinders bored properly by Bowen, so I don't expect that issue. Base pin is incredibly difficult to get in and out, with cylinder present.

    Precision And Base Pins

Although shooter technique is often the cause of boolits that don't go to the same spot, I'm wondering if a tight base pin could prevent a cylinder from moving ever so much to align each cartridge chamber with the forcing cone. Obviously I need to grip the same way each shot, etc. But, my...

Belt Mountain Base Pin For SBH

I think the frame is the proper modification for me. Just a light polish, perhaps. 0.0002, maybe, to get the pin to flow properly. I'm thinking a very light polish with 0000 steel wool?

Belt Mountain Base Pin For SBH

Mine is impossible to slide into the frame. Pulling it out so the cylinder can be dropped in puts the pin just into the frame. There it sticks. Lubed or not. YMMV.

Belt Mountain Base Pin For SBH

The new pin will be oh so difficult to insert if like mine. Very close tolerance could make what is easy maintenance difficult.

Why would shots scatter at only 25 yards?

74FeetThreeHoles by 4MUL8R, on Flickr I tried a different more stable shooting position from the bench at an indoor range. Here the forearms were resting on the bench, I was kneeling, and these three holes appeared in the target at 25 yards. The revolver was not supported, just my forearms.

Why would shots scatter at only 25 yards?

Excellent suggestion and thanks for the image. I will try this with factory and handloads soon.

Why would shots scatter at only 25 yards?

The statement about group size being less important than lethality is not about ballistics. I am planning to practice on clay targets so that I am absolutely certain that the shooter and revolver as a system are lethal. If I can every time break a four inch clay then I will take the revolver...

Why would shots scatter at only 25 yards?

Previous owner is a reasonably good shot (I've seen him compete idpa). He was unloading several items to fund a better weapon for his ace son who competes at a high level. I will figure this out with a friend who can really shoot. If it is a problem with the weapon it can be fixed.

Why would shots scatter at only 25 yards?

Actually I did not spend any money on the upgrades. I bought it this way for a reasonable price, and only reported the features to assist in the discussion.
