Not been keeping up with RF and RENE for a couple of years but have been involved about a value a gun. Ruger Standard Automatic Pistol Serial #0365. Unmodified bolt, correct red eagle gips with screw hole inserts, box (not seen), and one page instructions. Condition per two so so pictures no blueing loss and no scratches. Related to any wear, the grips have very sharp and pointed checkering. With very old RENE values pages, I considered it as 3 digit gun, collector grade condition, perfect grips, and unmodified bolt. I came up with a $1500.00 value. This was laughed at by RIMFIRECENTRAL members suggestion $300-400 was more correct!!!!!!! Trying to save ownder from those guys. I know unseen gun, but what valuations would ya'll suggest? THANKS

Well, the RENE guide lists a Type I Red Eagle in 95%-98% condition for about $865.00. You can add a little for it being a 3-digit. The box, if correct,, (hinged lid) in good shape,, at about $270.00. The instructions,, about $50.00. So, I'd say it's closer to $1200.00 or so,, depending upon a closer inspection & all.

A 3-digit per RENE is $1150 @ 95-98% condition. Definitely more if in mint or premium condition, or in the condition you describe. The sky's the limit for pucker factor. ;)

Early hinged box states at $270 per RENE

That's $1420 at about in 95-98% condition. Now that's not counting a correct magazine (which many 3-digit guns no longer have, even in mint condition) or the manual. Both of these items in excellent condition will up the price considerably more. For instance, I will pay $300 for a correct 3-digit magazine in exc to mint magazine right now, and $80-100 for the manual in mint condition. And I have heard of manuals going a lot higher

I would suggest putting it up for sale on OUR forum here. Start it at whatever price our experts suggest and see if anyone buys it. To me, this is the "acid test" i.e. if someone here on the Forum will actually pay what our 'guidelines' say, then, you'll have your answer.

I guess they are worth what you can get, but not to me! I have zero use for some firearm that sits in a box doing nothing. Its value to me is in using it. I never pay for rare or historical value that in my opinion is what ever some one tries to make it. A Ruger auto is a Ruger auto, nothing more ,nothing less , to me.

I need to adjust my earlier posting in reference to pricing. I made the mistake of not looking at the different section where 3 digit guns were listed. (I got in a hurry!) articruger is correct. The gun in 95%-98% would be about $1150.00 The box would add $270.00, and the paper, I've seen them for as low as $40,, and as much as $75.

That said,, a package like that would tally up to around the $1500.00 mark.

I stand corrected.

Personally, I am, and have been, irked about the low value and seeming distain for the first Ruger firearms, particularly the first group of 22 autos. That complete package should be worth a lot more! And as Dr Tanko and I discuss..............."How many do you see?"
Always agreed with ya'll on this.

I can respect that attitude shoot or safe. But with so many Ruger Standard Automatic Pistols and Ruger Automatic Pistols MARK Is models with different variations they require a great deal of knowledge to speak about. Some people don't even know the difference in a Standard and a Mark and still give opinions on rare models. If those with "A Ruger auto is a Ruger auto, nothing more ,nothing less , to me." attitude is fine for those not interested in these guns. Fine just fine. It is only when these folks give expert advise on these guns that it fires me up when they post STUPID WRONG" information.

I agree. Supply and demand though. If there were more collectors out there searching for them, the values would be higher. So today, common flattops that are more common sell a lot of times for quite a bit more than a 3-digit red eagle.
But yes... Red Eagle autos are definite sleepers. Maybe they will catch on with the masses of all gun enthusiasts sometime.
