Aftermarket grips, different hammer and no transfer bar? Bead blasted aluminum frame and the rest possibly nickel plated with a V389 serial number.

Something looks a bit "off" about the Bearcat on GunBroker auction 943222450. Am I delusional?
No not delusional. It's Alum alloy frame Old Model that's been sanded/polished. That's why it doesn't match in color to the steel barrel and cyl which have also had the bluing polished off.

Notice the firing pin retaining pin ends on both sides of the frames is still blued.

There's numerous places where the bluing still shows in nooks and crannies of the frame and cyl, especially the inside of the frame window! The sanding and polishing is particularly poor leaving all the factory contours rounded.

I forwarded your comments to the seller, who seemed genuinely unaware of the alterations.
Hopefully he will modify the description to more accurately describe the gun.
Caveat emptor,eh?

At least you found a seller open to considering an opinion besides their own… and/or willing to learn, or consider the possibility that they had made a mistake!

I recently had an exchange with a seller (an FFL, no less) who was selling a nice Ruger "Police Security-Six," along with another nice Ruger or two. Starting bid price was a bit optimistic IMHO, but that's the seller's prerogative.

I dropped him a polite note, suggesting that the fixed-sight revolver he was selling sure LOOKED LIKE a Police Service-Six… with the fixed sights and, "Police Service-Six" rollmark on the side.

He messaged me back with a curt note, telling me in no uncertain terms that the Service-Six had adjustable sights, and the "Police Security-Six" had fixed sights! So there! 😆

I know that there are some Six-series anomalies out there, but this seemed like a pretty straightforward error on the seller's part, to me.

Since he didn't take my suggestion to read the model name on the side of the frame, I figured that he probably wouldn't get my sarcasm if I suggested that he add "RARE" to the auction listing…

After all, there aren't all that many "POLICE SECURITY-SIX" revolvers around! 😇

It's a "V" alphabet gun sandblasted or something. He will probably sell it but I wouldn't give what he is asking.
The description has been modified,I hope prospective buyers can read between the lines and see it for what it is, namely an overpriced ,ham fisted refinish .
