LCP Max shooting low

I see many have POI issues with the LCP Max shooting low, very low.

My son has one that shoots very low for him, about 15" low at 10 yds. When I shoot it it is only about 1 1/2" - 2" low at the same distance. It also shoots left for him, but not me, but that was resolved with rear sight drift. He normally shoots left with all his handguns compared to me, due to hand size and grip to trigger distance. His hands are considerably smaller than mine and that makes most of the difference in our impacts. I'm aware that most of this issue is due to how it is held and trigger finger placement/pressure, but I need to get this issue resolved for him.

Please don't suggest shooting closer, or shooting off a rest as those suggestions will only either have it shoot less low due to distance or induce other factors that a rest entails, not how the gun is shot in normal use.

With that said, have any found a higher rear sight to replace the original, and if so what height rear sight and from where. Would prefer a solid steel sight same as original only higher.

Thanks for your input.

Apparently the Max accepts S&W Bodyguard sights.
His issue has been solved, but still shoots a bit low using 6 o'clock hold. Went to center of bull with dot and a slight change in trigger finger position. I'm a firm believer that one should shoot all handguns withe same grip, trigger finger position and sight alignment. Unfortunately this one requires a slightly different approach.

From your previous statement (in this thread) the problem is not with the gun. it is the
person holding it and anticipating the recoil, thus pushing down.

Have you son learn to S L O W L Y press the trigger. So slow that each shot catches him
by surprise. My bet is that the problem will have gone away without making ANY changes
to the gun.

Pat, Yes and no on the person holding the gun. Trigger press is not the main issue as the gun still shoots a bit low for me as well, nothing a combat sight picture can't help at close distances.

Initial issue was watching too many you tube videos on proper grip, going back to what I taught him solved that problem.

Thanks for reply.

There's nothing wrong with the factory sights on the LCP Max. IMO, they're pretty good at what they do. Center hold the front sight on the target. Technique is everything with the micro compacts. Any defect in your technique will be amplified.

Get one with the gun or the Max will school you. I have a couple of posts in this forum about how you get there with the Max.
