I thought I'd share the pictures of this little beauty. I bought it, because I love the frame color. It came with the second cylinder, box and shipper.

Nice color ,BUT, from the pictures (#3 and # 5) it appears to have been reblued, over polished and the plum just may be the "effect" of an improper bluing process, low temp or not left in the salts long enough....this happens all too often in many shops that are "In a hurry"?? fast turn over?? used to be a common sign in guns ,such as 'nickel steel Winchesters, they will turn plum when reblued, there are tricks to help avoid this, far too much to try and explain in a post reply...having been in the rebluing business for many years, had three companies over the past 49 years our first shop was 'Cleveland Bluing Co. on the east side of Cleveland ,Ohio, then later on in Eastlake ,OH we ran into this all too often, folks coming in with stuff that was done at "other" bluing shops, many out of town......... yes Ruger folks like and think its "pretty" but when in fact it is a bluing ( finish) error,,,either through process or in the case of Rugers the materials used in the steel casting batch ( the mix)....try and sell an old Winchester with those "pretty" colors.......:rolleyes:

BUT yes, it is neat looking, still have pictures ofthe late 'flatgates' (Carl L) old 22 that was "plum" as can be........;)

Yes, this appears to be a metal mix issue, this frame probably came from the same batch of frames that were used for the high polish "S" guns and the nickel plated SC6 guns. Those guns also give the appearance of a re-blue job. My BKH3 #54 (NIB with shipper) looks just as plum.

It likes 300 grain cast GC's with a heavy charge. I'm amazed, it's still as tight as a new FA83. Like john says, a drop of oil F & R on the cylinder, and use it! As a "Big 5" I don't think you could over load a 45Colt case.

The flintlock pistol in my original post was made by 10-Ring Precision … at least 40 years ago, by my best recollection. Not many of these were made. And, they have not been made for several years. My dad was the second owner of this particular pistol. I contacted Alex Hamilton years ago and asked about the availability of spare parts … nada. But, it shoots great and I can make any part likely to need replacement.

If you described them in words they might sound garish and impossibly fake looking. But seeing them, they are stunning, beautiful and right. Thank you for showing them to us.
