Maybe some relief on 22 ammo price/availability?

Interesting how so many mentions of "Walmart has..." still appear on the various firearm forums after the same forums not so long ago were filled with "Boycott Walmart" posts.

Thanks, hpman - Dean Weingarten's articles ar Ammoland are generally worth reading!

FWIW, my local Walmart has had some .22LR (mostly Winchester & CCI) available for reasonable prices, off & on since last year. They also have tended to have a few boxes of .350 Legend (9x43mm) ammo on the shelf - guess it's still new enough that there's not as much demand for it, as there is for more traditional calibers.

I'm buying 22 LR ammo where I can find it cheapest.Which is Wal mart at the moment. Is hard to beat there prices on the Federal 325 packs. I hadn't seen any Federal 550 packs since this round of BS started. I don't see many deals online anymore for 22's . So so deals on 7.62x 39 and steel case 223.9mm seems to be slowly dropping. Just wish Walmart still sold 9mm and 223 , 7.62x39🤬🤬

I can buy .22lr all day long for $4.50 to $5.00 a box (50). In todays world that is not bad. I wouldn't hold my breath thinking it will return to $2-3 bucks a box!

Most of my favorite firearms are .22 LR, and despite all I hear I have never had any problem finding ammo. The last time I bought some- about a month ago- I paid around 7.5 cents per. The stores may gauge a bit- like charging double in one case- so now I just go to ammoseek on line ( I don't know if links are allowed here,). Multiple sources, multiple brands and types, plenty available, fast shipping.

I also am a fan of the .22lr, but i have not seen any ammo at 7.5 cents period. I have been to Walmart, Academy and both CCI & Federal sites and the very best is $4.50 per box or 09. cents a rd.

That's why I go to the site mentioned rather than brand sites. They are in competition on Ammoseek ( this just happens to be the site I know. I'm sure there are other competitive sites) where I paid 3.75 for 50 round boxes of CCI Blazers. The worst beating I took was at a brick and mortar. 9.50 for a 100 rounds of Browning sub-sonics.

.22 ammo supplies seems to have returned to both local (Central N.C.) and online sources. Prices have come down a good bit but aren't near pre-pandemic levels.

The problem I have with buying ammo at Walmart is that in order to do so, you have to go to Walmart :)

Willing to stop at the dreaded Walmart myself to check out CCI 22 mag ammo. Was paying $11 per 50 or $20 for the milk jug with 100 I think. LGS usually charges $18 per 50 if they have it.

22LR is all over the internet @ 8cents per round and free shipping if you spend enough-maybe even skip the sales tax.

Truthfully, I haven't bought much 22 rimfire ammo in the previous 3 years. I did buy some Aguila sub-sonic 2 years back. On a work trip 150 miles from home, I walked into a Farm Supply store to stretch my legs and on the front shelf was a sign "CLOSEOUT $1.99/box-LIMIT 8 boxes" above an entire shelf full of AGUILA sub-sonic round nose. Quick as the 'ENERGIZER BUNNY', I grabbed a cart. When I came back through town 3 hours later, I stopped again and checked to find the shelf BARE-not surprising.
Viewing the events related to Y2K, I began stocking up on what I considered 'necessities'-rimfire ammo, reloading supplies, guns and parts. These have been some very worthwhile expenditures. We're shooting 20 year old 22lr w/o much concern over current price/availability.
