"The 1 of 5000 series were RST4-S, which was the stainless steel 4 3/4" Standard (fixed sights, not a MK I). The odd thing about this run (S/N 17-00000 to 17-05000) ... some were roll marked with William B. Ruger's signature, some were roll marked with "One of 5000", some didn't have either roll mark, and 26 were roll marked CAL. FREEDOM '82. These were the first stainless MK series pistols made and were shipped in the "Salt Cod" style box. They were made near the end of the production run, just before the MK IIs were introduced.

Last year's Blue Book of Guns shows $395 for the standard 1 of 5000 model and $725 if it is roll marked CAL. FREEDOM '82
."

I'm not aware of any 1 of 500 series guns that came out in 1982 but there's a whole bunch of things I don't know.
