My 2nd purchase in 2022 was a $4 Max 9 Takedown pin (61631) from the Ruger Shop online. After inspecting the Max 9 and running a few snap caps through it, checking the RMR for operation, etc. I began to field strip it. Dropped the takedown pin immediately. Fortunately it was in my workshop and I found it immediately but that taught me that I need to have a spare on hand.
Why is Ruger still using push out pins when the rest of the industry has pretty much gone with methods that don't result in easily lost small pieces of metal in order to take down an semi-auto pistol?
