They make the Bronze "Treso" nipples that fit the ROA.

There's always a few Old Army's on GunBroker, the prices are going up because it's a way to get a durable handgun without the paperwork hassles. There are also .45 LC conversion cylinders for them. That's of little use for someone from say NJ, where even cap and ballers are treated the same as cartridge guns.

A lot of people buy ROA's and then realize how slow loading and dirty BP revolvers are. You either love them or you don't. I would love to have one in stainless to add to my Ruger collection.

I don't understand why they would stop making old army revolvers. Seems like such a nice market niche for them. I wonder if they will ever come back. Ruger makes some great decisions then they make some that leave me scratching my head. Ed

I have converted my ROA to .45colt with a KIRST cylinder and one of SIXSHOTs peep sights. my wife loves to shoot steel chickens with it.i would be hard pressed to go back to cap and ball.

Charlie,
Did you have to adjust the timing when changing to the KIRST cylinder.

I love my ROA bought it when they first came out, it has a 4 digit serial #
