I am seeking some sort of support group to "stop the madness".

In the last 6 months, I have been selling and trading non No.1's and buying more No.1's.

Just picked a NIB No.1B in 308. Mounting a scope on it today. NIce!
Paid for that by selling Thompson Center Encore and barrels.

Just won a GB auction for a NIB No.1A in 204. Should be here next week.
Paid for that by selling M77's.

My collection of long guns consists of 9 No.1's, Ruger Gunsite Scout and an AR in case of Zombie attack.

At some point this madness must stop because I have nothing else to trade or sell for my next No.1.

I guess that I could live without that Scout rifle....

The AR is for possible Zombie attack....That is not going to happen, right?

I could get me two more No.1's
:D

Or, I could go "cold turkey" and get some help.

Greetings,

You have come to the right place, and admitting you have a problem is the first step to a cure. I am sure there are people here that would be happy to take some of those 30 caliber rifles off your hands at a fair price.

Gatling,

I do not feel so bad now that I have seen that someone has the sickness like me.

12 is a nice even number. 8) Heck, I am only in single digits.

I could get a part time job to help finance future purchases.

The worst is yet to come. Be very afraid!

I went the same route five years ago and sold off all my non-Ruger#1s except for a Mannlicher Schoenauer and a few bolt rimfires. I then plunged deep into the #1 madness even so far as to winnow out all but one of the SS #1s I owned in favor of wood & blue models. A few bolt guns have crept back into the mix but I now have over three dozen Ruger #1s including a bunch that never left the Ruger works in their current configurations -- like a .338-06 and .38 Federal, a 41 Magnum, a .35 Whelen 1H, a 9.3x62, and a 7mm BR.

There is no antidote.

I have shot all of mine and try to organize my weeks into a rotation of No.1's. In this way, I can shoot each one every 90 days or so.

Here is my list:

No.1 A 204 Ruger
No.1 A 6.5x55 swed
No.1 A 7x57
No.1 A 30-06
No.1 B 223
No.1 B 308
No.1 RSI 7x57
No.1 H 405 Win
No.1 V 6mm Rem

As you can see, there are many slots that still need filling.

How can I stop without a 30-30, 270 or 243.

There is no cure that I know of. Best to just focus on those that you would like to add- go for the better wood when you can find it.

Of my No.1's, the Boddington series "A" model 7x57 has the best wood. I found it at Cabelas and paid full MSRP. Could not pass on that rifle.

patrickjames,

That is a nice line up of No.1's and we have some of the same models.

How did you manage to separate yourself from your 6.5x55 swed?

:?:

That rifle is one of my favorites with its light recoil and hard hitting rounds.

6.5 Creedmoor is interesting. Have never fired one. :(

I don't have it to bad...yet.
#1V 243 Win
#1B 257 Roberts
#1B 22-250 non-prefix
#1V 22-250 pre-warning
#1V 25-06 pre-warning
#1 470 NE

Lots of ways to spend money, many are much worse then spending on nice guns.

rowdy1972,

That is the most No.1's I have ever seen in one place. Is that a private collection or a museum?

Ohiosam,

I agree with your statement about "different ways to spend money". I have friends that go to casinos every weekend. In the long run, I do not think they have much to show for it. They do seem to enjoy themselves. I might need a few more of those V models.
