Yes. I did last night but they will take 3 days to get back to me. I like the forums because real people will tell it like is. If there is a problem the manufacturer wont always admit it. On the forums you can find out what is really going on and what was really done to fix the problem.

I imagine your email reply will include a request for address , serial # etc and they'll send you a mailing label for return to them for repair. They're good people and will fix it, and pay for shipping both ways.

Could be anything you have mentioned. I just have never had this issue before with any of the guns I currently or have owned or shot in the past. I sure hope Ruger or someone can help me figure it out quick because I really like the gun but will not keep it if the problem continues.

Have you tried any quality ammunition yet?

Jeff

no not yet, I was planning on a trip to the range for that very purpose in the next couple of days. I would like a gun that will shoot anything. My brother has been shooting the same stuff in his M&P with no trouble. I also ran it through my LCP and have not had any issues with the LCP

I hate to say it too, but I agree on limp wristing maybe being the issue. I have about 1200 rounds through my SR9c. Only one time did it fail to go into battery. That was the time I was shooting off handed with my left hand. Yes I was limp wristing it and that was causing the issue. I have never had any FTF/FTE or slide issues when shooting with my strong hand.

You only have 100 rds through your SR9c? Have you shot any of the ammo you intend to use for CC?

When I get a new pistol, I don't worry about any malfunctions until I have at least 250 rds through it. I am less concerned about inexpensive target ammo, too. Sure, I want my guns to eat everything, but if a gun doesn't like the inexpensive stuff, I don't get worked up about it. There's a reason it costs way less than SD ammo.

If it happens again, remove the rounds that failed to chamber and save them for later. After you clean your gun, take the barrel and use it as a gauge for those problem roundss. Do they drop all the way into the chamber by gravity alone?

I have not yet tried the ammo i intend to use for CCW. I was just tryin the cheap stuff as "break in" ammo. I do this all the time and have never had this type of issue in the past. I do plan on using better ammo although not sure exactly which one at this point. I usually do shoot less expensive ammo at the range. I am also waiting to hear what Ruger has to say. I will save the next "bad" rounds and check the fit as well. Thanks for the idea.

Jeff, Sellier & Bellot is quality ammo. I have used it for years and can speak for it with confidence.

It may be less expensive than others but is of a very good build, clean shooting, accurate, dependable and consistent. I wish some of the American makers could be so good.

My wild guess is the guy has a baulky extractor but it doesn't sound as though he has many rounds downrange with a centerfire pistol, so it could be just a limp wrist issue.

i think steve b may be right with what he thinks is the cause of the slide sticking. I am going to clean the gun and lube up the slide rails a little and get back to the range to see if the problem goes away. dont want to have to send the gun back to ruger, but have heard great things about their service. May just need a little more break in time, and I am also a newbie to owning a hand gun so operator error may be part of it. I did have an experienced firearms person fire the gun and it stuck on him to. thanks for the info.

Me too. Full size SR9 not returning to battery. The issue started last week when I took my Nephew to the range during his college break. I have put a couple hundred rounds through the gun with no issues so I immediatley accused him of limp wristing it. Then it happened to me too. I only had one brand of ammo with me, Winchester Ranger FMJ so I couldn't try different ammo at that time. I returned to the range this morning with the Winchester Ranger, some Federal FMJ and Remington FMJ. The issue persisted with all but the Remington. It seems that the striker cover is dragging on the frame and not allowing the slide to close completely. It fires and cycles but hangs up only about 1/4" from battery. I'm hoping it just needs to be broken in with a few hundred more rounds. I'll follow this thread with interest. Thanks; Mike

Ya'all might want to look at this thread. I don't know if the jam you are experiencing is similar to what the OP here experienced. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=624059

The fact is though that both the OP & another guy that responded to that thread had the wrong extractors in their guns.

+1. Try any different but known ammo, even WWB or Federal's USA. If they solve the problem you'll know it's the S&B that giving you the trouble. If they do the same thing, it's the gun.

Well I spoke to Ruger today and explained the probelm.they said they wanted the gun. I asked about trying different ammo, checking for burrs or any other thing that could be a cause, She kept saying it is not right and she wanted the gun back. I asked about limp wrist and she said it should not matter that the gun should eat any ammo and fire when the trigger is pulled. She said there is something wrong in the gun and that they needed to go through it. Within one hour I had a next day shipping label via email and the gun is on it's way to Ruger. I will post the results when I get the gun back in 10 - 15 business days per Ruger.
Does anybody know if they will ship the gun to me or will it have to go to an FFL ?

They will ship it to your house, it's your gun so it doesn't need to go thru an FFL.

I hope they let me know when it's going to deliver. I don't want it sitting on the front porch when I am not home. UPS has done that to me in the past.
