Today was out club's Steel Challenge Match. I promised myself I would shoot this at the last match until October do to the extreme temperatures here in Phoenix. I think it hit 105 today. I played it cool with my Artic Cool shirt and towels to keep dry and cool. They helped a little.

Nice FrankenRuger, nice long sight radius.

Not as hot here as your place but more humidity and we're going to 99 Thursday.

I minimize the effects of heat by getting to the range near sunrise. I don't have to wait for one of the 3 pistol/rifle berms and don't sweat my brains out as much. Don

Nice pistol how did you do?
Here the high for the last week was 63, a couple ski areas are still open.

Had fun but didn't even shoot my average but at least I got to shoot with my friends and made some new ones. I no longer worry about my times. They are in the low 200s now, but from a wheelchair and with my disability, I'll take it.

I use to be a Master Class shooter. Those days are over. But I'm in C and that's pretty good..

12 degrees in Greenville, SC????!!!!

Yeah, I know it can get that cold but that certainly isn't the usual number.

I have to be very needy of range time to shoot in such cold weather. Don

... I was shooting my Ruger Challenger came in second in the competition.... then again. there were two of us shooting.

Wow, not exactly an endorsement for enticing people to move to SC. Don

When I'm elected I'm going to get a law passed that anyone moving here can not have air conditioning for their first 3 years.....

Sorry but I'm a xenophobe ..... two many folks have moved here.... and continue to... the last estimate was 30-40 people a day.... and that probably does not include all the illegal aliens that are building all the track houses in the new subdivisions all around.....
Here's an example of what they built just beside my gun club about 10 years ago... figure out where the next one is going...

You forgot to mention the single digit humidity.

It's not too bad shooting here, IF you arrive at the range about the time
the sun first clears the "mountains" (AZ definition). This morning it was
78 at 05:30. That's very do-able. AND you get to be back home by around
08:00.

Don't forget the "monsoon"! TV weather guessers were very happy to
announce that the monsoon season had started. Even if there has been
no sign of rain or the ding dang dust storms.

Speaking of the dust storms . . . the first one I saw here was last July. I
was over at my daughter's place and saw it coming. I headed home and
got inside with everything locked up about two minutes before it hit. I
could not see the end of my driveway for about fifteen minutes. Glad I
was not at the range!

On the plus side, we get to shoot ALL Winter long. 8)

The other positive, they are talking about opening FOUR new ranges.
Public access, no charge, all within about a twenty minute drive from
where I live. 8)

Wow Hawkeye that's great new for you. We need more Public Ranges. Ben Avery get so crowded there's an hour waiting list on most weekends.

Demographics say living there (Greenville SC), your chances of being a victim of violent crime are better than 1 in 159.

I see why ccw is a must...
