As the title says, I have a 1939 Winchester Model 70 in .300 H&H
and I'm in need of preferably a one-piece scope base. The measurement
between the rear hole and the next is 4 5/8". Can anybody help me?

Thanks so much,
Fred

I've got one made in 51 and had to go with a two piece Leupold QD base and rings. They work great.

Winchester model 70's were not drilled and tapped for scopes in 1939 (they had no holes in the rear bridge). If your model 70 has a hole in the rear bridge it was done by gunsmith after leaving the factory. Those holes were typically drilled and tapped for a standard model 70 base made after 1946.

Bob you are correct sir. When drilled by Winchester the rear bridge holes on a magnum action we're just a skosh wider than those on a standard action. I found this out the hard way.
