Coogs,
While I'm sure you've probably seen it, 600-07193 10.5" is on gunbroker right now: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/737931704

Current high bidder is yakimatiger, who bids on a lot of Rugers. Is yakimatiger here?

There were 16,314 completed guns and/or serialized frames produced. Ruger "scrapped" over 5000 completed guns and/or serialized frames. Highest surviving number out there is 600-11588. There were "blocks" of numbers below that that were also scrapped. I'd estimate that there were between 11,000 and 11,500 shipped as complete Maximums. As far as today, well.........they way the Max is being cut up into these big bore hand cannons.......my conservative estimation is there is about 6-7000 Maximums, that are still Maximums and only about 2-4000, at best are true, unfired, collectors pieces.......JMHO. I have yet to find a Max produced in 1984......All the Maximums from serial # 600-11300 through 600-11588 were shipped March 1983. Ruger does not necessarily manufacture guns in numerical order, Serial #600-00018, which is David Bradshaw's came off the line first, #600-00016, which went to Elgin Gates, was next, so it is hard to tell, with out a factory letter, when a Ruger was produced.

Every time I see that "scrapped" record I just cringe. I realize it ups the value of the survivors, but what a cryin' shame.

Any updated idea yet on the breakdown between the barrel lengths?

With the numbers I've recorded, 54% 7 1/2" guns, 46% 10 1/2' guns with a total of 32 guns not verified to barrel length, ie, converted.

I'd sincerely like to thank all those that have been willing to pass on their serial numbers to me. Means a lot to me in my research. Thanks again, Jack. PS, KEEP 'EM COMIN'!

Ser. no. 600-10452 has a seven and one half inch barrel and resides in Texas. It is still at this time a .357 cal.

600 05980 ( 10 1/2" ) is still in Wisconsin, purchased from her original owner, as un-fired still in the box with shipper

the un-fired part may change this fall , as she just might go deer hunting
