Had a gentleman from Canada post about an early ser. # of 70-00720 on it. Says it is a flat bolt in 6mm Rem. He is puzzled because the Ruger site doesn't go down that low on the ser. #'s. I'm sure this has been discussed here, so if anyone knows of a thread that you can link to this thread I would appreciate it. If not, can anyone tell me about his rifle? I would think it would be a fairly uncommon caliber. I own 1 243 Win and have owned another one and have seen others in the 243, but not in the 6mm. How rare is it? Ballpark on what it is worth? Any other info that might help the gentleman out on and I will let him know. Thanks, Eddie

I can be kind of dense, so they started some time in '69 with the 2 digit prefix? If so, was the 1st no. with the prefix was 70-00001, or did they pick up the #'s where they left off with the nos. before the prefix started?

Golferboy...that is neat. Is it known how many of the various calibers was produced in those days?

They started at SNb1 thru-1911 in 1968 then 1912 thru 3189 in part of 1969 where the 70 prefix starts as 70-00001 per R.E.N.E. I would say that even the early 70 prefix in 6mm is scarce maybe even rare

It kills me when people ask about a Ruger 77 and only give part of the description. Other than flat bolt, hollow bolt or round bolt, and sometimes caliber, the most important aspect is whether or not it has sights.

There are a ton of short action flat bolts, not so many long action flat bolts or hollow bolts. Any of the preceding with factory sights are in the minority. An ST flat bolt or hollow bolt, rarer still.

My mistake, Mr. Kirksey...I did ask about the sights and he had told me it did not have any. I neglected to add that and I should have.

Thanks to all who helped! Eddie

77R, 70 prefix flatbolt in 6mm, known SN range 70-00077 - 70-52092 are scarce. If it has the straight ejection area stock, may be very scarce.
