I recently bought anew single stage press. I went with the LEE Classic Cast. Its cast iron, built solid, inexpensive and it is supposed to be able to handle .50 BMG. That was the deal maker/breaker, doing .50 cal. You just never know when that wild hair bites you....

Hi,

Haven't seen a Hollywood for decades! Reload, can you post a picture of yours for the guys who've never seen one?

Old boss had a shotshell version set up in the back of his shop for anyone who wanted to load trap shells w/ it to use (of course, they all had to use the same load!) Dunno how many 100s of 1000s went thru that machine.

Probably one of the best deals on a press "by the pound" ever! NOBODY will ever ask "Where's the beef?" w/ one of them!

Well I fit in with most others here. I have a rockchucker that I bought used in 1968 and I'm still using it. I have tried several different presses over the years from the rotary turrent to the lee aluminum but none were any better than the old rockchucker so after a short while I got rid of them and went back to the rockchucker. I have been loading for many years and have built up quite a selection of dies through the years. I load everything on that one press from 38 special through 8mm magnums. I don't load like normal people. Sometimes I will start at 7:00 in the morning and load until midnite that night stopping several times for breaks and meals but pretty well straight through loading. I am wating on 1000 38 hulls I bought a couple of days ago and tonight I went out and cast 1000 bullets to have ready when the cases arrive so I can get them loaded to go with my other 3000 I have sitting on the shelf loaded. I have more ammo on hand than most sporting goods stores carry. I could stop reloading today and shoot for the rest of my life and probably never run out of ammo. But I enjoy reloading and cant stand to have hulls not loaded.

I like the heavier contrstuction. I wore out one of their all aluminum presses early on.
If you plan on reloading a while, take it up a notch. :)

You can see my video below link:

Wow ruffbird We must think alike I have a lee challanger press laying on a shelf out in my shed. When they first came out they had a deal where you bought a kit for one caliber for like $25.00 I bought a rifle in a caliber I didn't have dies for and saw the special in a magazine so I ordered the kit and used the press for about 1 month then went back to my old rockchucker. the lee press seemed ok but didn't have the leverage the rockchucker does so it fell to the waside and hasn't been used since.

I use a Rockchucker for sizing & seating but have a Lee Challenger on the other end of the bench that is used solely with a universal decapping die.
That way any primer crud is kept off the other press.
I use a friend's RCBS Junior when in the US & it too works just fine after many tens of thousands of rounds.
