OK...is confirmed. So now everybody needs to check their Type 2 Red Eagles to see if they have 5 or 6-groove barrels. The subject of this thread is apparently the first known 5-groove Type 2!!
I'm thinking this example probably got a barrel from the bottom of the bin when it was assembled.

What I would like to know is how you can count them,,short of filling them up with that gell they use for inspections?? Even my local gun smith said he could not be sure on mine...D.K.

I mark one of the lands with correction fluid, put a bore light in from the chamber end, and count the lands.
