Thanks, maybe this model tends to throw a bit farther. I don't have much of a frame of reference personally.
I called Ruger today and the CS rep consulted with a tech. The tech's response was to 'go with a lighter load' and asked what I was shooting. I told her I was shooting 147gr rounds. She recommended going with 115 or 124. My response was that I thought that just referred to the weight of the projectile, and she said no, that's grains of powder. I wasn't going to argue with her, but I was less than impressed. To her credit she called me back to clarify that I was right, but the tech explained to her that as the bullet gets heavier there is more powder, and therefore more kick. I'm not informed enough to deny that, but I'm going to find out.
I guess the bottom line is it may be normal for this gun, but I may buy a spring and guide pin just for peace of mind. Either that or do some more research on the loads and call Ruger back once more.
