I would like to get a few opinions about replacement triggers. this will be for a carbine plinker, but something I can really enjoy shooting.

I've done DIY kits, had the better 10/22 trigger 'smiths rework them and bought full assemblies, including the aforementioned VQ one. All depends on what you want. For the vast majority of folks, especially for just a plinker, just get replace the hammer and be done with it.

As for the VQ...I'm darn glad I didn't pay the usual price. It's better than stock yes, but $80 re-works of the factory one I've had done resulted in a better trigger. You might get a fancy housing and brand name to show off but little else. Needless to say I'll not buy another TG2000. Another Jard - yes. Another Kidd, the one widely considered the best, most certainly. 8)

Don't Worry Crossroads....everybody has an OPINION! No one knows what is best for each situation no matter what they may say.

I have shot Kidd triggers, VQ and ones with Power Customs kits and ones with VQ parts. I personally prefer the VQ parts ones. I may buy a Kidd for my next build because I can taylor it to exactly what I want, where as others you typically cant get that specific.

For a plinker I would suggest a Volquartsen or Power Custom hammer. These are between $32 - $36 bucks at Midway. easy to install and will be way better than a factory trigger.

I have the Volquartsen in all but one of mine, and that one has a Kidd trigger group that is over $200.00. The Kidd is awesome, but I like my others just as well for a lot less.

Thanks for all the advice.
I wasn't aware just replacing the hammer would provide an improvement. read thier sales info and I think I'll trying a hammer for $40 first.

I had seen referance to the Kidd assembly in the "my trigger job cost..." post http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=150801 and veiwed thier website and it seems impressive
