I can't remember where I seen a word that I never heard of before. Being in my late 70's I just can't seem to heard it while talking guns.

The word I believe starts with a s,(stifeling maybe) and you can see it on stainless steel pistols. What is it, what causes it, and does it can only be seen on stainless?

Don't know...I think it was said that it showed blueish stains or swirls.

Striation is the word I think you are looking for.

Striated steel looks like it has been brushed

Thanks. I know someone would know on this forum.

Now another crazy question....is the whole weapon(pistol/revolver) Striated or is this because so some mfg. fault. Maybe carelessness of the owner.

Again, thank you... I _ Like_ Pie

I think it is just a fancy word for "brushed"
