Member Colt Hammerless recently posted a picture of a holster he was making and mentioned he was going to make one for a 1911. My new SR1911 needed a new holster, so I contacted him and express an interest in it. I am here to tell you Paul is a true gentleman and a straight shooter, in addition to being an artist in leather.

I asked if he could make one stiff enough that one handed reholstering would be possible on an IWB holster. He said he could, but if I wasn't satisfied, I could return it. I also asked for 1 3/4" belt loops, which he gladly changed. I waited anxiously until he sent me some pictures and I was blown away. Here is the holster as I received it.....and I apologize for the blown out stainless on the 1911.....not my day for pictures.

The pictures do not do the holster justice. The edges are nicely radiused, the holster opening is slightly beveled like a magwell for ease in holstering, and he airbrushed the edges to produce a sunburst finish as on a guitar. This is a very high quality piece of leather......

As for returning this one if I wasn't satisfied........you will have to pry this one out of my cold dead hands! It is perfect!

If you need or want a high quality holster, give Paul a chance to build one for you.... You will not find a better person to deal with.

Very nice. Any chance for a complete review and in-use photos after you've had it for a bit?

Believe me you can tell by the pictures that it's an excellent holster.
You can't get much better than perfect.

Questions about pricing a availability should be addressed to Colt Hammerless. As far as a use report.......I will update this thread from time to time. I still want to stress the quality of this holster. The best I have ever owned!

I have edited the original post as I have learned this holster is cowhide and not horsehide. The test for me was it stiff enough to stay open and allow one handed reholstering.......and this one is without a doubt. I would recommend Colt Hammerless to anyone wanting a very nice holster! Great person to work with and an extremely high quality product.

I second that. Paul is currently making the third holster I have bought from him and it will not be the last. Excellent quality and great prices. I have paid more money for much less of a holster. Order from him before he gets to busy, and the waits get longer, with service, quality and value like he provides it's only a matter of time.
