I'm hoping to get suggestions as to which scope mount system you feel is the absolute best/most stable, rock-solid system for the 10/22. I'm thinking of going with a Leupold 2-7x33 for the scope, but I'm undecided on the mounts.
Thanks.

For a 10/22, unless you intend to use it as a prybar to lift a pickup truck, the standard supplied base, mounted with blue loctite, and a decent set of Weaver-type rings of the appropriate height (as low as you can go to still clear the barrel with the objective bell) is all you will ever need.

Don't own one, never seen one in person either. But if you want strong, it would be hard to beat a one-piece base/ring combo built specifically for your rifle.

THAT'S the one that prompted me to post this. I had seen the ad, but was hoping someone here has experience with it or had another suggestion. While I won't be using my rifle as a pry bar, I can't stand a rifle that won't hold zero because the mounts shift every time it gets a bump riding around in an ATV rifle rack, etc.

Mated to a good set of rings like these ($11)

I am also looking for a different rail. I want one that when I use my quick release mounts I can use the iron sights.

LOL, my cheap-azz scope came with rings. Mounts up nice too on the stock Ruger rail. Can't wait to hit the range!

Plus you can walk in and buy them at basspro.

Ten22 - thanks for your suggestion - it is the one I have chosen. I placed my order for it earlier today, along with a Leupold VX-1 2-7x28 Rimfire scope. The DNZ Game Reaper mount was $39.69 at Cheaper Than Dirt - considerably less than Bass Pro. Now if I only had a 10/22 to mount this stuff on - Haha! I think I can fix that situation tomorrow, though.

Thanks for the suggestions from everyone.

Leupold makes a base for the 10/22 that works great! I can even see the white diamond below the rear sight notch when the scope is off!

The picture in the above link shows two ring slots in the base but there are three.

I don't think I could have said it better! This setup is perfect for a 10/22.

Well, yesterday I fixed the situation of being without a 10/22. I picked up a black synthetic/matte black finished version yesterday. I'm not a fan of black guns, but this was the cheapest route for me to go where I would have a synthetic stock and matte black gun. I bought this configuration with the intention of swapping out the stock for a brown laminated one (Revolution Explorer - looks like the Target model stock, but for a standard barrel dia.) in the very near future, but until then I have the stability and durability of the synthetic one, and it will make a good spare. The matte black Leupold and mount on top of the matte black gun and brown laminated stock should be a handsome, capable rig.

One final question - Ruger recommends 12-15 in. lbs. of torque for the receiver mount screws. My smallest torque wrench only goes to 20 in. lbs. For those of you mounting scopes on these aluminum receivers all the time - what do you do if you have no torque wrench? I'm comfortable with torquing mount screws by "feel" on steel receivers, but the aluminum has me a little bit shy. Thanks

>felo makes a good torque screw/ nut driver that adjusts from 1.5 Nm to 3.0Nm that works well with the various gunsmithing screwdriver heads you use for scopes and gun maintainence. I got mine from Midway USA but I'm sure they are available elsewhere.

so anyone used the UTG 10/22 tactical low profile rail mount?
It has a groove down the middle to supposedly allow for use of your iron sights while attached to the reciever?
