I called Ruger Records this morning to get some information on the No. 1's in 30-40 that were recently released, and didn't get much info. I found out mine was born in March of 2012, and that it was not a dealer exclusive. The Ruger representative said somebody probably order a bunch of them so they were produced. She could not give me how many were produced for the No. 1 Krags.

I often times read in other people's posts something like... "1 of 250", or "less than 100 produced", or, well you get the idea! So my question is, how do you get an accurate production number for a specific run when Ruger does not give out production totals?

Just curious.

You just have to stay close enough to the subject to be" in the know"!
Sorry, but I just could not resist!
Here is what I know about the recent run of .30/40's. Cabela's had the run made last year, supposedly 100, that were high polish and Circassian stocked. Appears that enough barrels were left over that Ruger assembled the remainder and ran them through Davidson's. I think Davidson's got less than 30 of these with regular blue and American walnut. If this is what you got, consider yourself fortunate!

Thanks for the info! I heard a similar explanation as well. I have one of those Cabela's 30-40's... it's very nice! Said to be only 100 of them made. Now I need to get my hands on one of the 60 Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Krags that were made.

I thought that Ruger only makes 'special runs' of 250. Tooling up aline is not justifiable fopr less. At least thet was what they told me when I tried to corral some buyers for a 1S in .35 Welen maybe 10 years ago. (I finally got one through the custom route. Learned a lot about verbal commtiments being just chin music.)

That is 180 degrees from using existing barrel stock for a normally offered and cataloged model, to empty the parts shelving of non ctaloged barrel stock. Apparently, that latter action was taken ande a small run of #1 A 30 40s was completed, ala 30+/-. I was also advised that there were some 19 done in the #1 30 40 International, as well. All are "gone to the winds" it seems.... There you have it. This factory run is closed. :!:

Hawkeye #28,

These 19 Internationals in 30-40.. were they done recently (when the approximately 30 1A's came out), or were they manufactured at some other time in the past?

I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT. HAVE NOT ASKED ABOUT THEM FURTHER AND WAS NOT TOLD WHERE THEY SHIPPED WHEN SENT TO "A DISTRIBUTOR". iF YOU HAVE ANY CONTACT(S), PERHAPS DAVIDSONS' COULD ADVISE, AS THAT IS WHERE THE #1A's seemed to go....Just an idea....... 8)
