I've looked at so many gun belt sites that I'm more confused now then before I started! I'm looking for I believe a 1 1/2 gun belt as I do wear dress pants from time to time so I don't think I can go any wider, and right now I can only get one, so I'm uncertain of color, black vs. brown, but I'll figure that out.

Cost is a factor for me as I've yet to win the lotto or inherit a family fortune, so I'd like to stay in the $50 range if possible for a quality simple gun belt.

The one I've got my head set on is THIS ONE from BullHidebelts.com, but of course it's about $25 more than I want to spend. I do like the option to add a second belt keeper and I'd prefer Chicago Screws instead of snaps.

In addition, they have free USPS priority shipping so I'd have my belt in about 3 days from Indiana.

So, with that in mind, does anybody know of something similar in quality for a little less? I've looked at Simply Rugged, something about that site just doesn't suit my fancy. Looked at A&G, seemed nice, pricey again, long wait time. Top Gun Supply looked nice too.

Also looking for opinions on solid one piece construction or two ply glued / stitched versions. Of course makers of each variety tout their options as the best.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Wade

I use this belt from http://tinyurl.com/7rfcdaz, the brown is a dark brown that can almost pass for black. I have had it for a yea now and it shows no signs of wear. It's nice and heavy and it's held my 45 Birds Head with no problem. The only negative I have found is that it's made in China, if you want made in the USA chose something different.

I would say check out Blackhawk- They have some nice-looking gun belts, not as expensive. I also have one for Crossbreed, but $70 or so.

The Crossbreed looks nice, lifetime warranty but 4-6 weeks, deal killer I think on that one.

Not sure CB has a 1 1/2" either- not sure what I ordered but it almost won't fit some of my belt loops. Just a note to check if you change your mind.

Well, I am going to swim against the current. Let me preface this with the fact that I am still new to CC.

I have been carrying my SR9c in a small IWB holster. I use a Dickies brand belt I picked up at a local discount store. I has been working very well for me. It is one of the sturdier off the shelf belts and ran between $10 and $15. I find that IWB does not seem to put a lot of stress on the belt. A lot of the weight is held in place by compression inside the waistband.

I can see that an OWB holster would require a really stiff/sturdy belt as the stresses are greater. A heavier weapon might require a a heftier belt as well.

I don't doubt that a good quality gun belt would last longer than the one I have now, but then again I would pay 4 to 5 times the price for one. I will pay the extra $ for a product when needed, but I hate to pay top dollar for an item, when a much less expensive item will work just fine for me.

If you are looking for one to "Show" spend the money and get a good leather belt. But if you want one that works well, and is not expensive, take a look at a Wilderness 5-stitch instructors belt. It'll last a long time and it works very well. As for looks, well it's OK for jeans, but not for dress. I wear a cover garment, so looks aren't that important!

With a heavier belt you wont have to cinch it up as tight to keep your pants up when carrying IWB. I was really surprised the difference it made.

Crossbreed all the way. Got one and haven't looked back. You get a discount for being an NRA member, so take 10% off the price and that's what you'll pay.

I have this one; no extras - $45. Very pleased with it and have worn it for over a year.

Still I wonder, is the two piece glued stitched or one piece model better?

I have found that I can leave this belt somewhat loose, and still have good retention of the holster/gun. Again, not sure things would be as sturdy or comfortable with a larger/heavier weapon. It's also possible that an expensive gun belt would be better, but this one seems to be working well enough for me, that I am reluctant to shell out the $ for a real gun belt.

I'm in the same camp with holsters. I picked up a Tagua for a little over $20. I has been a convenient, comfortable holster with good retention of the weapon. I am interested in one of the larger, two clip holsters with a large leather pad. The problem is, I am happy enough with the holster I have, that I am reluctant to spend the money on the much more expensive model. I really like the option of pulling the entire holster/gun combo off my belt in one piece when I have to stow my gun in the car. The larger holster might be more comfortable while wearing it, but seems like it would be awkward to remove. If I had one of these holsters, I would probably opt to remove just the weapon and stow it naked in the car, then just continue to wear the empty holster until I was able to retrieve my weapon. Not the most ideal scenario IMO. Sometimes smaller, or cheaper is actually better. And sometimes not.

Actually I looked for a sturdy belt that I could wear with my business dress, 90% of the time I'm in dress pants, shirt and tie. When it was all said and done I found two sturdy all leather 1 1/4in black and brown dress belts at the local Wal-mart. I don't remember the brand but I've used both for about 6 months now with a Tommy Theis IWB. Even with the IWB holster clips, cell phone clips, and security badges they show no wear and still look sharp. I picked up each for $10.00. There sturdy enough that I don't need to cinch them down to support the weight.

Its hard finding the right combination that fits, its often a little trial and error as everyone is different. good luck
shoot straight and shoot often.

Rob may not have the best web site, but he provides quality product.

Another place to look is your local "cop shop" (police supply).
I got two locally (one Brown one Black) that are excellent and at $35 each.

Excellent idea, thanks!
