I picked up my 1911 today. Since it is stainless, I was wondering if there were any special lube guidelines. The manual says nothing special other than to lube it.

Exactly.WHAT you use is your preference.I use Gunbutter on the pivot points,Weaponshield grease(just a little) on the rails, and Hoppe's Elite oil on the inside and outside of the barrel.I use this on all of my semi's and never a problem as far as lubrication goes.

I don't have the 1911, instead the stainless SR40c but just wanted to throw in that CLP works great on the exterior of the stainless slide. I use hoppe's on all my internals.

But about the CLP and the slide-, I spray some CLP onto a paper towel, apply it thickly to the slide, leave it on for several hours, really gunked on thick, then wipe clean with a new paper towel. Then wipe down with a silicone cloth. Really keeps that stainless shine looking very nice.

I'm not sure about your 1911 but the SR series have plastic sites. Some cleaners I've noticed "eat into" the plastic a bit. Making the color lighter. I've never seen CLP to do this like some other products. Which is another reason I feel better going heavy on the outside of the slide when I coat it.

I did not even take mine out of the box yet for it's first field stripping,? & to start it's breaking in period.? I clean & lube all of my guns with EEZOX on the 1911's I use a little of Brian Enos's Slide Guide just on the rails of the slide & A little on the frame & barrel lugs. & that's it. I am getting a nice set of VZ ECO grips to add to the gun.& I bought a Milt Sparks Summer Special 2 from Brownell's.? As they have them in stock,? So there's no months of waiting for delivery, Like from MS itself. The other thing I ordered is a set of extra belt straps In Black from M Sparks Co.To add onto the SS2 holster. 8)
