My uncle bought an SR1911 today, the first one that he, my dad, or myself had seen. Found it in a little tiny shop nearby that does most of their business at gunshows. The shop owner said this was the third one they had got in actually.
I was thoroughly impressed with the SR1911. The fit and finish was excellent and it just looked great overall. Haven't shot it yet, but plan to cure that this weekend. He paid $750 + tax, but he had been looking for one since they were released and wasn't going to pass up the chance. The fired case was marked 3/26/12 and the gun had a yellow inspection sticker on it, if that makes any difference.
It is a very nice 1911. I had a high spot on the breech on mine, which was leaving a mark/ dent on the rim of the shell. I sent it back to Ruger last week and should get it back in a couple of weeks after they mill it down. Customer service was very good on understanding the problem and said they would correct it. Let us know if you encounter the same mark on the shell opposite of the extractor just to know if they fixed that in later models. Just wondering if all have the same problem or mine was a defect. However, it did not effect the performance of it at the range as I was putting in 3" shots at 25 yards. I had the blue sticker dated in Feb 2012. FYI, my test shell also showed the mark.
