New Vaquero conversion by Clements:4 5/8 barrel, case hardened frame and hammer, action job, fancy walnut grips with ivory stars where the medallions usually go,38/40 caliber, marked on frame Ruger Vaquero 38WCF by clements.Gun has a light turn ring because I have fired it and cycled a few times since I got it back from Clements.Very lite and smooth trigger pull and smooth action. Beautiful gun but I just don't play with it much. Thinning the herd a little. It was a .357 I purchased new and had Clements convert it to 38/40.Make a great BBQ gun I think.
I have decided to sell it for sure this time.Pics below n the posts .

Sir, a properly tuned NM Ruger should mark the cylinder.

Olsherm,

Nice gun! Does it have the original Ruger front sight? How is the new caliber marked on the gun?

Thanks,

Olsherm:
You will love that 38-40 in a Vaquero. I bought a 38-40/ 40 S&W Vaquero on here recently and it's one of the best shooters I own. Look at John Taffin"s article ( http://www.sixguns.com/tests/tt3840.htm ) about loading that cartridge for a Ruger and you can nearly match 41 mag ballistics. I'm shooting his starter loads of 16.0 gr of 2400 using a Hornady 180 gr XTP and it's a hoss!

I think I would hang on to it if you can. It's a work of art to boot!
JMHO,
Dan

Olsherm.

Is it regulated for a particular load? In other words what load does it shoot to point of aim with, factory loads, Cowboy loads, one of your handloads, or?
