I am getting more than tired of the number of "Price Check" posts that show up in
the various sub sections of the forum. Is there any way to have those restricted to
the "For-Sale/Trade" subsection?

The heaviest, seem to be in the rimfire section, but I do not frequent many beyond
the 1911 that have many of those.

To me it is laziness on the part of the submitter, since they want everything handed
to them. But I guess I'm just a grinch.

:D

My opinion. And it's okay to have different opinions, even on a gun forum.

Some people I suppose, just want to have a conversation, and this is an ice breaker.

My kids...if they ever decided to have an interest in guns...if they had a question about guns, and I wasn't around, they wouldn't know where to start. If they felt welcome on this or any other forum, and then being told their question was a dumb one, just might send them out of the hobby I wish to promote.

Further, online price checking can vary so wildly, even I might ask a value of the folks that truly understand the marketing of any given item more than the folks that overcharge and overspend on gun auction sites.

I've been involved in horse (gun) trading a long time. And I've been on this forum a long time. I can remember folks that have come to this forum, very uneducated about guns, certain guns, any guns, and they learned so much from here and elsewhere, they are now respected as knowledgeable gun folks. Sometimes we just have to give these folks a chance, and maybe they'll catch on.

I'm not suggesting the elimination of the asks, just that they be in one subforum.
The one for buy/sell.

Only a suggestion but, if someone asks for a "price check", and it bothers you, then move on to whatever you like to open and read. I came here knowing very little about anything 'Ruger'. I ask questions, received replys, got suggestions, and though not an expert I have learned much. I achieved this by also reading questions asked by others; perhaps the same thing can happen to someone else.

Since "what's it worth" inquiries can develop into lengthy discussions on condition, relative scarcity, variations, personal opinion, etc, I'd just as soon not pile them into the Classified subforum. They aren't that frequent and can be ignored if they are not of interest.

As if we don't have enough stuff to occupy, worry and annoy us, we gotta sanction price related questions. Really? Please. Give me a break.
