Does any one use Tapatalk on any of the forums?
I use it on Elsiepea Forum & Bersa Chat Forum.
I can use my phone to get on the fourms any where I go.

Rich you may want to shoot a PM or email to I_Like_Pie.

I've never heard of the thingy you're asking about.

If you're still following this...

I thought Tapatalk would let you connect to any forum. I have not purchased it yet, but was thinking of it. If not, you may have just saved me $3.

I tried using GReader, a free utility, but it only works with RSS feeds, and we apparently do not have a feed on RF.com.

Yeah...if it involves anything other than posting a standard message we don't have it on the forum.

Can anyone tell me the version of "phpBB" this board is based on? I'm investigating forum reader apps, and most of the current ones require phpBB version 3.x or later.

Thanks in advance,

-- Sam

Can the forum be set to accept it.
Taptalk makes it real easy to read a forum on a phone.

We are running phpBB 2.0.22

Can't be added without an overhaul update. Considering we went 12 years on ubb - We might be on track for 2016-2017

No problem....We would make the updates, but we generally keep the forum as bare bones as possible. KISS philosophy

Yeah, I've looked at a number of "forum reader" apps for Android and have come to the conclusion that none are compatible with RF, unfortunately. Most of them want an RSS feed; Or they talk directly to the forum "engine", and therefore need to be matched up to a specific version of that engine; Or they simply come with a list of pre-loaded websites of which RF is not one.

The good news is that several folks have said it works OK in a standard browser. I haven't tried that yet.

The RF has been working great on my DROIDX for 1 1/2 years now. I can resize the print for ez reading and use all of the same features as available on my desktop computer. In fact, it looks exactly the same as my desktop.

Personally, I pretty much prefer to view web pages in the desktop version over the mobile views.

Same here. On my Razr, it looks exactly the same as it does on my laptop. I read the forums more on my phone than on the pc.

Many of us like the forum just the way it is. Many of us do not have "smart phones" or such stuff.
I say leave the Ruger Forum "as is" due to the fact we haven't had hardly any server issues or problems. The more "complicated" we get, the easier it is to have folks try & hack us. Keep us low key & off the grid for the phishers, scammers, hackers etc.

FWIW I have had an I-phone since Dec. 2011, and read the forum just fine. The forum looks just like my laptop. It is harder to type on the phone! Yep the KISS principle is great.
