I bought this revolver new and have looked for a set of nice wood grips for awhile now. Last week forum member dfrazier offered up this set of S&W prototype Olive wood carved & checkered grips. I was very pleased with the
fit & finish and end result,,,Thanks Dean!!

Daniel,
If your friends gun is roll marked,,".45 CAL. MODEL of 1988" you might want to try harder! :D :D .
Should have been "'45 CAL. MODEL of 1989".

There were only 1500 of these made of these 1st issue revolvers with the above roll mark . I bought it new for $369.00 with the intention of getting into shooting Bowling Pin Match's. A major job change which required me to be available 24/7 took place so that idea went out the window. It is my favorite D/A revolver and is quite accurate if I do my part  :D .

Kurt, This is the only S&W I have left,,

I have a 5 inch 1988 in 45 acp. They are a lot of fun aren't they? Used to take mine to every USPSA match I went to in hopes there would be other revolver shooters there so we could have class. It rarely happened.
The poor thing has been in cobwebs too long.
