ruger 10/22 sycamore stock

Enclosed is a photo of a stock I finished made out of sycamore from my nephews house for a 10/22.

Wow, very nice grain in that stock. I like the blonde look .

Made out of three pieces glued up, the tree itself was 5 feet in diameter but all the boards were 5/4 before planing. No stain, just satin poly.

Nice job, and selection of wood. Looks like a wood spirit peeking out of the buttstock. I see impressions of forehead (and a small horn) eyes, nose and a bearded chin.

Love those DIYs, especially that one! Lots of woods to experiment with. IF you have the talent, which few do, including me.

That is beautiful. Never seen a sycamore gunstock before, never dreamed it could be that pretty. I know it is some tough stuff to split if you're trying to burn it for firewood. Best wait till it's about 20° outside, then you can split it.
