1911 commander damaging brass

Took her out for a shakedown.
She really damages brass.
She smack a big flat on the case head opposite of the extractor.
Anyone heard of this?
Other than that, two inches for her first outing... no complaints here.

Look at the breechface and you'll see a corresponding raised area. The question is...Will machining the area away to match the rest of the breechface result in excessive headspace? Odds are that it will.

A return to Ruger for repair or replacement is in order.

Mine has the same raised area and does mark the brass. I have not bothered with it so far but might have to contact Ruger about it.

Hopefully the ejector is pinned in. Many now days are glued in only and can work loose. Not for sure on the Ruger 1911.
