Got a question for the group. Wanting to remove the original rear and front sights on my SR1911 670 model. It says Novaks on the rear, but Novak says those were made by Ruger under license and they did not physically make them. No problem...Question, do these sights drift from L to R from the rear or does the direction matter at all? And is there anything I need to know before I start trying to remove them?

You should remove the sight from left to right and install from right to left.

While I have not done the Ruger 1911, all others follow the instructions
contained in the Sig PDF.

Install from the Left as viewed from the shooting position.
(Remove from Right to Left).

:D

I spoke to Ruger Service Dept on 3/26/2018 regarding direction of replacing SR1911 sights. New Truglo TFX Pros due to arrive today. I will install them this evening.

Removal - left to right (as viewed from the shooting position).
Install - right to left

Buy or borrow a sight pusher tool, or use a padded vise always. Use a brass or nylon punch to contact the sights of course, never hammer on the sight itself!
