Hang in there. If you you can tough out the wait, your patience will be rewarded with a first rate .45. Too bad they won't sell you the display model.

A month ago!

ELEVEN months for me! April of 2011 when they were "introduced" even though I have yet to meet one in person.

The wait is worth it!

It seemed to me that the GS's in the northeast US were getting supplied before the rest of the US so I searched the internet and found one store that was expecting a SR1911. He got it in late Wednesday and sent it my way yesterday. My local FFL will get it to me late next week. I got it for less than MSRP. They are out there if you are diligent (and a little lucky).

Wow! Somethings wrong with that picture. Have you tried a different dealer? I ordered mine on April 30Th and had it in less than two weeks. And I think it's because my dealer went out and found one, by simply making a few phone calls. Maybe it's because you're in Illinois.
Just kidding! I lived in Illinois for 13 years.

Yes and no. Meaning .... we're in a small town of under 50,000 people and I own a business. There's 3 shops in the area and I'm first on each list. I just insist on buying locally as I hope and pray my customers will do the same.
Foolish? Perhaps. However, I try hard to practice what I preach.

Maybe it's because you're in Illinois.

Honestly ~ that wouldn't surprise me a bit!

I also was on many waiting lists for many months here in Illinois. Feb. 21st I decided to swing by GAT guns in Dundee and as soon as I walked in they were putting a SR1911 in the display case. I of course purchased it and was told they had received three. When I went that Saturday to pick it up they were having a factory shoot and surprisingly still had a SR1911 in the display case. I don't know if they do transfers but their website says it's in stock.

I feel your pain, I have been searching as well. Yesterday I went to a gun show about 100 miles away, after not finding anything good there I went to the big chain store in that town. I talked to one salesman for awhile and was pretty sold on a Kimber stainless 2 they had but I decided to think awhile on it. Then I talked to another salesman at the same store and he put it all in perspective for me. As he said, " there is a reason why I have a case full of Kimbers and a waiting list for the Ruger". The Kimber he was refering to was priced at $899 and the Ruger at $699. I know price does affect some but he felt it was more due to value and quality of the Ruger. I have no patience but in this case I paid for the Ruger (special order) and will wait my turn. Hopefully it comes in soon like the salesman thought (2-3 weeks).

I have a second one that is headed my way. I don't need two, send me a PM and we can figure out what it will cost or if there is a way to ship it directly to your FFL. I will be in it for ~775 or slightly +- depending on shipping.
Hope I can make someone else's day, see this thread for the last one I found and gave away.

About a month ago, I posted that I knew where 8 SR1911's were at $635, and offered to turn anyone on to them that PM'ed me for the address. I heard from 2 people. Not sure why people are still looking for these at $700 +++ or can't find them at all ..... No idea if the guy still has them a month or so later, but he did then. So if you're 'still waiting' ... I don't know what for ....
