So far I've fired several hundred rounds through my SR1911. I've developed three good loads for my pistol so far. Two of the loads use Ranier 230 grain copper plated round nose bullets. One load uses 4.6 grains of Bullseye and is very good. It's averaging 765 fps. The second load uses 5.7 grains of Unique. It has more punch averaging 815 fps, but it's slightly less accurate than the Bullseye load.
A few days ago I took the third and newest load to the range to test it. This load uses WLP, 200 grain cast LSWC bullets made by GLC Bullets of Springfield, MO, and I used 4.2 grains of Bullseye. I seated the bullets at 1.260" OACL. This load averaged 763 fps. Accuracy was good at 25 yards. The round was pleasant to shoot, and the brass dropped close to me. Attached is a photo of my target. 25 rounds were fired at 25 yards.
So far I have no malfunctions with the copper plated round nose bullets I've loaded or factory loads. I loaded 50 rounds of the LSWC bullets to test. I had to failure to feeds due to the nose of the bullet jamming. The other 48 rounds worked perfectly. This may be due to my needing to perfect the loading technique for this round.
So far I'm very pleased with my pistol. The sights were set good from the factory, the trigger is good, and the accuracy seems good to me. Personally I think Ruger has done a good job with the SR1911. Mine is a keeper.
