Very nice Dave !! I've always loved the double diamond grips, expecially black ones on stainless guns.

It's absolutely amazing that you actually HAVE the two guns that I have been very seriously considering for about the last year or so. :D

I love that loaded target 9MM in stainless.

Those Springfield grips are my favorite Springfield grips as well ...

You're really ticking me off !!!!! :D :D :D

I have the EMP in 9mm. It's a great little gun. Very accurate and nice to carry concealed.

I test-shot an EMP in 9MM at a local shops Springfield days or something like that. Put 5 shots in about 3inches at 50 feet. Not too bad for junk factory ammo and the first time I ever shot the gun.

Springfield makes REALLY good guns IMO.

That little .40 EMP is also very accurate. It is fit every bit as tight as the Range Officer. My only complaint is that the recoil spring is so heavy, it's hard to rack the slide if you're a feeble old fool like me.

I have to agree with you on the Springfields. Mine have all been great guns. The only one I didn't like was an old Champion. It shot good, but didn't have a beavertail grip safety and it bit me about every shot. Ouch! Should have kept it though and swapped out the GS.

As you can probably tell, I'm not real brand loyal. I just buy what I like, no matter who makes it. If it works good for me, I keep it. If not, it gets sold and I try something else.

I always wanted a 1911 and when Ruger came out with their first model in the year 2011 which was also the 100Th birthday of the 1911 I said, "I think I'll get one." So it was because it was Rugers first which made it special in my opinion. The fact that it's a nice gun is a plus. If Ruger hadn't come out with one I would have probably bought a Springfield since I already have 3 of there guns and know their quality is great. I'm very happy with the Ruger. It will more than likely be the only 1911 I get.

Same w/me. Plus reading the article in the anniversary issue NRA mag, and some other online reviews, I caught the fever. Sucked in by the history. My dad was a WWII vet and had a friend who let me, as a teen many years ago, handle the .45 he was issued during the war. When a SR1911 suddenly and very unexpectedly became available, I bit, influenced by the "hard to find" factor.

No regrets, except for the busted windshield I got on the drive home from the gun shop! :x

I bought this gun because it appeared to be a high quality piece with all the options and features you would find in a much higher priced gun, and at a price-point that makes it an incredible bargain. It has all the features I want in a 1911 and none of the features that I don't want (i.e. light rail, front slide serrations, etc.)

That's what I was going to say! Plus it comes with a GI guide rod and plug, and a "series 70" style FCS. Even more, it is made by an American company with great customer service, who stands behind their products.

So...how can you go wrong?

You can't GKC!

Springfields might be good guns, but they're made in Brazil. Kimber might be made in the USA, but the same gun from them is $200 more. Taurus is made in the same facility as Springfield and while quality has improved, its no where near Ruger.

I've only had to deal with service on one gun from Ruger - a cracked stock they replaced free. I've had more than I like from S&W, but they paid the shipping both ways every time and every time it was back to me in two weeks or less and fixed right.

As long as I can find new or used Colt 1991A1's for roughly the same money, Ruger's version will never get a second look from me. If I liked stainless 1911's with ski-ramps and beavertails, it'd be a different story. The SR does seem to shoot well enough.

Just because a gun isn't made in the U.S. doesn't mean it's not a good gun. And that goes for parts of guns. Just like cars, some are made better in other countries.

It's simply a matter of preference, Matt. I like 'em blue or parked and as close to the blueprint as possible, excepting sights.
