Ok. Another 150 round test. A box each through the new Wilson mag and the two Mec-Gar mags. No issues.
Definitely picking up two of the 10 round Mec-Gars since the 9 rounders worked so well.
I need to add something to the bottom of the 9 round mags since I have a magwell on my SR1911.
No holes on the bottom of the mags so I guess I'll have to drill some.

I'm happy to read all is working as it should. It shouldn't be to hard to alter your magazine to work with your magwell.

Heads up. I mentioned I ordered the 3 Wilson mags from Midway yesterday. I just received a Midway flyer. On the 6th of Sept they are offering 10% off on the Wilson Combat mags. I don't think it will do any good but I emailed Midway's CS a few minutes ago about the 10% off.

I received my Wilson Combat mags yesterday. What a difference compared to the Factory Ruger (Checkmates)mags. I loaded them all up
on my bench. Allot easier loading then the Ruger mags. I fed a round out if each magazine and they worked perfectly.
I'll report back once I finally get it to the range.
I'm done with Midway they would not do a price adjustment. I hadn't ordered from Midway in a few years I should have kept it that way. It will cost them more in the end then it costed me.

Got a set of replacement mags from Prescott today. They didn't blink and sent them very quickly (normal Ruger service). The problem is they still have the same springs as the mags that came with my pistol. I think that there are bunch of Mac trucks missing their springs somewhere. Maybe Ruger should just start marketing these as 7 round mags...

On the other hand the Wilson combat and Mec-gar mags seem to be great replacements.

I'm sure Ruger is getting tired of replacing these magazines. By now there's no telling how many they have replaced.

Hopefully sooner or later Ruger will run out of these and get some that work right. They'd probably be ahead of the game if they went with a different magazine source.
I still haven't been able to get to the range to fire mine since getting it back. If I have a problem with the 5th & 6th Ruger replacement magazines with 9 rounds loaded I will definitely try them with 7 and 8 rnds. I'm looking forward to trying it with the Wilson Combats mags I bought.

?? I'm new to 1911s. The spring touches the cap and link. Where would it contact the frame?

ADCO did this in a day. It was there and back in less than a week. Waiting for my frame now.

I like your thinking and what you had done. Let us know how it works out. I've thought about getting a suppressor but not sure it's worth all the red tape and expense of getting one. At least for me.

It may contact the frame when when spring is being flex back and forth ? There must be a reason there's guild rods on most makes , But I may be wrong.

Tripp mag in now. Worked fine with dummy rounds.

Got my frame back from coyotekiller. Didn't like the factory gray so had him do a molyresin black. Got my barrel extended and threaded by ADCO. It's ready to go! Sadly I am not back to work till Monday so no range report. I'm too cheap to go to a local range and I hate work enough that I won't go there just to use the range.

This is when it was new last month:

Now sports Hogue wood grips, Wilson Combat front strap and magwell.

Bored today and the kids wanted to go out and shoot so ROAD TRIP!

Ok, first, the Tripp 10 round mag worked fine for the three times I shot it unsuppressed. I had some issues when shooting suppressed so I just shot suppressed with the factory 9 round mags.

No issues at all. Gun worked just fine. I should've brought the Beretta 92F, HK VP9 and Glock 19 to listen to all of them, but I got lazy.

Sorry for the bad vid, camera was hanging in my shirt pocket and I told my son to go back in the car since we were leaving. The first 9 rounds are 147gr and the second 9 rounds are the 165gr.

Freedom Munitions 147gr reman RNFMJ and Freedom Munitions HUSH 165gr RNFMJ.

I couldn't really tell the difference between the two so I'll stick with the cheaper 147gr. I like FM's 147gr since it's loaded a little slower than the usual Winchester 147gr I shoot. It cycles all my 9mm handguns suppressed and my AR9 suppressed.

I don't know how to embed video. sorry.

As some have stated.

The LW CMD arrived dry.

I found it easy to field strip, lube up lightly and
re-assemble.

The slide stop slid right back in,, no idiot mark as of yet.

Mags would only hold 8 rounds.. with the 9th being tight.

The only real gripe I have (other than the cardboard box) is the
fact that the gun could have
come with some Frog Lube or other oil and a bushing wrench.

This gun might be a tad heavy for me to carry.

Like with other guns that I'd love to conceal (GP-100 WC,
CZ97B, Speed Six, ect) my bad back says otherwise.

However..my wife loves the fact that the can rack the slide...
and she would have no problem packing this stainless
beauty if she had the proper holster.

She likes shoulder holsters.

As for carry a load.

It will only be Double Tap.. and I have 4 choices in my ammo
collection.

1: Double Tap 115 grain Barnes TAC-XP solid copper
hollowpoint. The same bullet as loaded by Cor-Bon
and the Barnes or other TAC-XP related defensive
ammo.

2: Double Tap's 124 grain Bonded Defense (Speer
Gold Dot) JHP.

3: Double Tap's 147 grain Bonded Defense JHP.

4: DT's 147 grain Controlled Expansion Jacketed Hollow
Point bullet. Very accurate in the past.

Both the TAC-XP and Gold Dot are popular defensive
loads by both citizens and the police.

I guess we will shoot some of each and see what both feeding, recoil
and accuracy show.

I've read that the LW CMD will feed about any quality JHP ammo.

Welcome to the club, Clarkston. Believe you're gonna love it. I've put nearly 400 rounds thru mine, a variety of cheap errrrr inexpensive FMJ and 124 gr JHP. Not one failure of any kind, not a single hiccup, nothing.

Yes, getting rounds 8 and 9 in the mags is a challenge. I am routinely storing the mags with a full 9 round load hoping to get the springs to relax. I think it's coming slowly.

Enjoy your new pistol!

Thanks buddy.

I'll try that trick, but 8 rounds are fine for my..err..my wife's needs.

I did find that the mags would not fully seat with 9 rounds.

No big deal as 3 Wilsons are on the menu right now.

I use a magloader to load the mags. Right now I have seven mags and loading them by hand I cut my thumb. Can't remember which mag did it. But all are loaded to capacity easily enough. Two factory, two Mec-Gar. The ten rounders are two Wilsons and a Tripp.

Hello , I like to know which of these mags you like the best? Easiest to load? A 9 or 10 makes no diff to me... Tks

I use the Uplula. It does my handguns from 9mm-45acp.
It does single or double stack mags.

https://www.amazon.com/Maglula-UpLula-Magazine-Loader-Unloader/dp/B0187CVJC0

Reading comprehension fail :)

I like the Wilsons. I can load them easily by hand if needed.
The Tripp is ok but has the top round hanging like the CMC mags where if I try to top off the mag, the top round falls out when I drop the mag.

Well, we have been trying to get to the local indoor range for a few days.

As he has not been feeling too well, I was the only one that shot the new
LW CMD 9mm today.

I forgot the camera, but not the Federal and Double Tap Ammo.

My lone target was of 4 silohuettes (sp?) in orange on a cream background.

The first two mags were Federal 115 grain FMJ.

The CMD has a nice trigger pull for a stock 1911..
and @ my usual 15 yards...

I was able to get some tight clusters.

Next up was the Double Tap 147 grain controlled expansion
JHP. This shot very nice for head shots on the target.

Double Tap's 124 grain +P was the next load.

This stuff isn't the stoutest 9mm I've ever shot, but
you can feel it.

Pretty decent for head shot with 2 shots in the tiny head
and 1 flyer to the right.

I'm used to shooting striker-fired pistols (XD-S, Mod 2)
PPS M2) so I think that I tend to mash the trigger a bit.

When I slowed down my accuracy improved and the gun
shot Spot On, even for my againg ahnds and eyesight.

Moving up the the DT 147 grain Gold Dot, the gun didn't
mumble or fumble as it gobbled up 3 rounds of the heavier
stuff and printed them neatly into the tiny head on the right.

This had the most recoil of out any load today, and it really
shakes up my RAMI when I shoot it. Pretty powerful for
a 9mm load.

So, all along I'd been impressed with the accuracy of this
new gun.

For about 6 years the DT 115 grain TAC-XP has been my normal
carry load for 9mms.

3 of the the TAc-XPs sailed out of the LW CMD and gave me a nice
group in the lower torso's head.

Wow, this thing can shoot!

Recoil wasn't an issue with any of the loads, and even the
77 grain Lead Free JHP didn't balk at sliding up the feed ramp.

I've shot this lighter load in a few 9mms, and the LW CMD
has less muzzle flash and blast than those previous,
but it was still there.

This pretty much roars out of your gun @ 1,600 fps..
or so.

Unlike some have reported, this gun didn't seem to need
any break-in period.

I thought I might have some problems with the 2 stock mags..
yet they perked right along.

I'm truly sure that a 1911 guy or gal could wring out even more
from this gun, but it will pass the muster for range or carry.

Add a HBE leather or a Black Arch kydex holster and one would be set.

A superb piece of Ruger workmanship for the price paid!

Whew. Ok, passed the 1000 round mark this weekend. Over 600 rounds suppressed now. No issues.

Loving this gun! Guess I should pick up some spare recoil springs just in case. Cleaned her up and reloaded all the mags. Ready for next trip.

I'm heading towards 200 rounds, so way behind you.

I dig those Wilson ETM mags.

3 of those from Brownell's and 500 rounds of
Freedom 124 gr. JHP are on my Wish List.
