SPF on another site! Finally! I have a Ruger M77 tang safety model 30-06 FS. The metal on this gun is very nice, very bright and shiny, with a small blemish here and there. I would rate the metal at 80%+. If you know bolt rifles you should know these rifles are highly desirable because they are a Mauser 98 action, with controlled round feed, the best bolt rifle design there is. At the time Ruger first brought out this rifle, all the other bolt rifle makers were going cheap with push round feed type actions. But credit is due to Ruger for sticking with the Mauser 98 design! As for the stock it has been re-done in a dark Winchester style tint and a Pachmayr decelerator pad installed. As is normal with these guns the floorplate and trigger guard look crappy with scratches. Steel floorplates and trigger guards can be obtained as a set from Pacific Tool and Gauge. This is by no means a showpiece, but it is a Mauser 98 design, the best bolt rifle there is! Just in time for deer season. Asking $350 shipped to your FFL.

Geez, with some of the lowball offers I've been getting on this rifle, seems like people view this rifle kinda like the ugly old Savage 110s that you can barely even give away! It got me to wonderin', are these rifles held in low esteem? Are they looked down upon? I thought these rifles should be highly desirable because they are a Mauser 98 action, with controlled round feed, the best bolt rifle design there is! At the time Ruger first brought out this rifle, all the other bolt rifle makers were going cheap with push round feed type actions. But credit is due to Ruger for sticking with the Mauser 98 design! So I think these rifles are some of the best you can get! Am I wrong on this?

350.00 shipped is very reasonable for this Ruger in this condition and would make a fine truck gun or a first rifle for a young hunter as the stock/bbl could be shortened w/o a large investment. While not tack drivers, they make a fine hunting rifle. Many people think it needs to be near perfect for consideration, but its a hunting rifle and not a safe queen.

I looked at your Ruger but with a different recoil pad and looks like brown paint on the stock I wondered what else had been done to it, like was the stock shorten or broken and repaired under what looks like brown paint? I passed.

Some people, like Chuck are missing something in their lives...like "class" maybe? Don't like the offering? Move on w/o making an ass of yourself.

Good offering but I believe it is push fed and not controlled round fed.

Ahhhh......That is a classic mauser rotating claw on that bolt if my eyes don't deceive me. Does Ruger even make a 77 of any era that isn't a mauser bolt?

The gun is in very good condition. Probably what is turning people away is the stock is refinished and a new recoil pad installed. To me it looks very good, I personally don't like the real light colored wood on a gunstock.
