what year was the ruger single bbl trap gun introduced?

I do know with great certainty some didn't actually ship until years later. When they did a mass clearing of their stockpile a handful of these Trap Models were included. It's how I got mine. I know at least 5 shipped then with 3 having 2-digit serial numbers (mine included)

I have a catalog where it intro's the trap gun....but nowhere in the catalog does it list the year the catalog is.
they did that sometimes and it drives collectors crazy.
im going to mark it 2001.

No surprise there - it was nothing but a Red Label with one barrel missing. I struggled with a Red Label for two years back in the early 90s..... finally sold it and went to an SKB. The Ruger stock design was more of a field gun than a target gun..... kicked like a mule, and handled like a big 2X4.
