I have a Ruger American 308 and it has what looks like copper streaks in the barrel that will not come out. I have tried several different copper removing cleaners and nothing helps. Anyone herd of such? I'm beginning to wonder if it's something in the metal of the barrel from the factory?

I forgot about the 223.........It's shooting about 1 1/2" groups at 100 yds. I have a ruger American 7.62 x 39 that shoots 3/4" at 100 yds. You'd think it would be the other way around. Is 1 1/2 normal for a 223 Ruger American? This is with 55 grain handloads. I shoot the same handloads in my savage 110 and they are 1/2 minute easily.

Also - just because a certain load shoots well in your Savage 110, that's no guarantee the same load will shoot well in another rifle. Since you're a handloader, start trying different bullets at different velocities. It often takes a lot of trial and error, but you will almost certainly find one the rifle likes.

My RAR 5.56 liked the bullets to be seated as long as possible. It also preferred the Speer 52gr hollow point over anything else I tried. That's one I shouldn't have ever sold.
