Just recently, I was doing some research on the RUGER AR-556 (#8500). I own one and was looking to see if there were any new updates, improvements, or recent articles written about it.
I came across a few posts about the charging handle, and why RUGER had not been stamping the charging handle with the RUGER emblem anymore. People were asking why, and some were upset about it. I did a GOOGLE search and only found one for sale on EBAY for $25! So, I contacted RUGER and asked them why they had discontinued the emblem stamping. Here is their reply;
"Thank you for contacting Ruger Customer Service.
Your Customer Service Issue # is XXXXXX23
Wayne,
It was removed because it is hidden 95% of the time and was redundant as there is an emblem on the upper right above it.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you for your interest in Ruger.

Makes sense to me to eliminate an unneeded operation of stamping the charging handle.
