I've owned and shot tang safety 77's in 24" RT RS in 257R, 22 inch in 22 250, 308, 35 Whelen, 30/06, 300 Win Mag. I'm pretty sure I had a 243, 7mm mag, but they were a long time ago.

I've handled 243, 250 Savage, 270, 7x57, 338 mag, 350 mag, 458 Win Mag all in 22 inch, and 358'S in 20". I've owned or handled 22 250, 243, 250 savage, 270, 308, and 30 06 in RLS 18.5 ". I handled a 35 Whelen RLS, but I'm pretty sure it was a well done rebarrel, as the front sight was just a bit too close to the muzzle. I also touched a 416 Taylor that I think was 22". There were a couple 404 Jefferies that I've not seen, but saw photos taken by a guy I consider reliable. Last I heard two of them were in Alaska. The 7mm RM, 300 WM, 338WM, 458WM, 416Tand 404 may have been 24 inch barrels.
I'm sure there are others that I've seen on Gunbroker, but like that little Whelen some could be edited versions.

I've not owned any flat bolts.

thanks black fly, back many years ago my uncle bought one in 243 he killed more deer with it than a dump truck can haul. I always loved the way they look. I have 2 RSI one in 243 and one in 250 sav. I also love the full stocks, I have 5 total.

All flatbolts are tang safety models. In fact all actions not marked as Mark II are tang safety. Barrel lengths were based on model and caliber. Way too many variations to list here, but generally they were 18.5, 20, 22, 24, and 26 inches. Most non magnums were 22" or less and magnums were 24". There are some calibers that were not made in the flatbolt actions that were made in the roundbolt and hollowbolt actions.

If you are looking a specific rifle and have a question on it, please ask that question.

just to add one caliber...have a 77RS in 6mm rem.

OK, another for the list.

I should have added the usual disclaimer that my list was just what I had info on & nothing concrete. Especially when I left one out that I bought new & used myself, a 35 Whelen.

If we had every year of catalog for the tang 77, we probably wouldn't have all the knowns. My Whelen wasn't cataloged, thinking I remember the end of the box being stamped as so.

I bought a M77 ST with sights in 7mm RM around 1975 at, of all places, JC Penney. Yes, they sold guns, as did Sears and Montgomery Wards. WalMart was just getting started then. I probably used my Penney's charge card. Imagine going to the mall today to buy a rifle at Sears or JC Penney. How times have changed. Bob!! 8)

I did similar: Bought from Sears an M77RS flatbolt .350Rem Mag in 1972. It was my first Ruger. Still have it.
