Got a line on one.... wood and bluing pretty much perfect. Someone put a sling stud on it. Case coloring on lever is very nice. Otherwise very nice. What are these going for . Thanks.

I don't know what the going price for these is but I had one many years ago. I could never get it to shoot accurately and i wondered if the single action screw, like that of the 10/22, was the problem. I believe it didn't align the action and barrel adequately in the stock. The 10/22, with it's almost insignificant recoil, is OK with this system but the 99/44 has significant recoil and things moved around too much.

I believe nice examples of the 96/44 are in the $800 range. I have one that shoots approx 3 inches at 100 yards with 240 grain ammo. With a Leupold 1-4x it is a great Michigan Whitetail gun for me. very handy woods gun. Just know it was never intended to be a tack driving 250 yard gun--as no 44 mag out there is!

Love mine--

Yup.... never shot any factory ammo in mine, but my handloads (240 grain Speer JSN, 23.5 grains of Li'l Gun) will shoot 2 to 2-1/2 inch groups. Sighted in so it's a tad high at 50 yards and a bit low at 100, it's all you need for whitetails in the woods.

If the sling stud is problem, you can still buy 96/44 stocks BRAND NEW: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Factory-Ruger-96-44-44-Magnum-Plain-Hardwood-Stock/220561663388?epid=865005960&hash=item335a7fe59c:g:Vm8AAOSwxu5ZFGxi
